September's here, and the first properly chilly morning isn't far off 🍂

Before the weather starts to turn, here are a few quick tests we always recommend to our customers:

Simply fire up your boiler for ten minutes and check:

🐝 Do all your radiators heat up evenly, top to bottom?
🐝 Any strange banging, gurgling or whistling from the boiler?
🐝 Is the boiler pressure sitting where it should (usually around 1-1.5 bar)?
🐝 Is the hot water coming through properly?

Finding an issue now while it's still mild beats discovering it on the first freezing morning when half of Warrington is calling too!

The October energy price cap has officially been announced, and unsurprisingly, bills are going up again.

Ofgem has confirmed that the energy price cap will rise by 4% from 1 October, taking the typical annual bill for a household paying by Direct Debit to £1,723.

And with October also being the time many of us start reaching for the thermostat again, there’s never been a better reason to make sure your heating is working as efficiently as possible.

It's heating up again 🌡️

After a hot, dry summer, another warm spell is building this week!

We're set for low 30s here in Warrington and the north west over the next few days, and it looks like there's more warm weather to come this month.

A few easy ways to keep your home comfortable this week:

🐝 Close curtains and blinds on the sunny side during the day to keep heat out
🐝 Open windows on opposite sides in the evening to get air moving
🐝 Keep internal doors open overnight so heat doesn't get trapped in one room

We're right in the hottest stretch of the year, which is exactly when you notice if your air conditioning isn't pulling its weight ☀️❄️

If yours is blowing less cold than it used to, taking an age to cool a room, or making new noises, it's usually something simple: a clogged filter, low refrigerant, or a unit that's just overdue a service.

A quick service means it cools faster, runs quieter and costs less to run!

Seen the hosepipe ban headlines and wondering if they affect you?

Bans have come into force across big parts of England this summer, but the North West isn't one of them.

United Utilities says reservoir levels here are actually above average for the time of year, so there are no restrictions in place.

The good news is you can use your hosepipe as normal, but after the record-breaking summer we've had, it's never a bad idea to keep an eye on water waste. A dripping outdoor tap or a leaky loo can quietly run up your bill all year round!
