"We recently completed Detailed Examinations, which are required every 6 years, on several of our structures including the iconic viaduct and Hunting Butts Tunnel," reads the article. At Inspire Structures, we take pride in our meticulous approach to safety and precision.

The article showcases our team's dedication: from ground-level work using Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) to the meticulous roped access examinations of the viaduct. Each step ensures that every detail is inspected with utmost care and expertise.

🌟 We’re hiring Civil/Structural Engineers! 🌟
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer to join our engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop inspection and examination techniques while working closely with multidisciplinary teams. You will develop report writing and reviewing skills and be expected to undertake examinations of large and complex assets including bridges and tunnels. You will use your engineering knowledge onsite and provide advice to inspection teams. Comprehensive training is provided with opportunities to learn specialist access techniques. The position includes a combination of office and homeworking with travel opportunities across the UK. You will also be supported in working towards professional qualifications with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent bodies, ensuring your continuous professional growth.

🌉 Out in the Field: Building Expertise, One Bridge at a Time 🌳

Recently, our Project Lead, Sam Corton has been working alongside two of our trainee examiners, Callum Winwood and Jamie Lewis, conducting eight detailed bridge examinations (masonry and concrete) across the stunning landscapes of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

It's great to see Callum and Jamie stepping up to the challenge. Both trainees showcasing the skillsets they have acquired so far during their STE4 mentoring periods. Accurately identifying a range of defects across these structures. These boys are smashing it and are showing what it means to be a trusted and competent examiner.

Days like this reminds us that bridge examinations are about more than just identifying defects — they’re about developing experience, working as part of a team, putting in the graft and preserving vital infrastructure for future generations. 💪

Well done, Callum and Jamie - great work! 👏

Our diving dream team back at it again, this time they were diving at Waulkmill Glen Reservoir. This serene body of water not only supports the local ecosystem but the viaduct that crosses also carries the Neilston railway line high above its surface—a marvel of engineering nestled in East Renfrewshire.

Waulkmill Glen is the north-eastern most of five reservoirs along the Brock Burn, connecting Barrhead and Newton Mearns. While exploring, Mike even found himself doing a bit of underwater "gardening".

🌊 Diving Deep at Loch Awe! 🌊

Our dream team of divers reunited for an inspection on a retaining wall at the picturesque Loch Awe Station. Perched on the northern bank of Loch Awe, this scenic railway station is part of Scotland's West Highland Line, connecting communities and offering stunning views.

With smooth operations and seamless teamwork, the inspection was a success—no challenges, just incredible underwater views and fresh Highland air.

A big shout-out to MSDS Marine for being fantastic partners, as always. Couldn’t ask for a better “office” for the day! 🌄

🌊🚤 Our Dream Diving Team in Action! 🚤🌊

We’re proud to showcase the incredible work of our dream diving team, Martin Hedge and Mike Dunn, who recently completed an underwater examination at Montrose Viaduct, a stunning 16-span rail bridge in Montrose, Scotland. Spanning the River South Esk, this historic structure links the East Coast Main Line between Dundee and Aberdeen.

With some of the strongest tidal currents in the country due to the large Basin upstream of Montrose acting as a natural reservoir, the team worked efficiently to maximise dive times between tides. The challenging conditions were handled with expertise and precision.

A special thanks to MSDS Marine and MSDS Heritage for their collaboration, and to our surprise helper, Sammy the Seal who kept an eye on the team!

It’s always a pleasure working with such dedicated professionals in such remarkable locations!
