Warning: Fake Fire Blankets.

This one was purchased by the customer, a children's residential care site. They were totally unaware of how dangerous these can be.

These have absolutely no fire resistance as the weave is so loose that flames go right through them. This one confusingly states it shouldn't be used on clothing, AND says it can be. Only a 1.8m blanket is designed for clothing fire. Look at how it has slumped down in the cover, not firmly folded.

Customer has been advised to dispose of this immediately and to source an approved replacement. All of which we will most likely do for them.

Make sure you check yours meets the British Standard BS EN 1869:2019, carries the Kite Mark and the CE mark.

- 1.0m x 1.0m: Ideal for small domestic kitchens, caravans, and small workshop benches
- 1.2m x 1.2m: Standard size for commercial kitchens, larger home fryers, and office bins
- 1.8m x 1.2m (or larger): Recommended for wrapping around a person with clothing on fire or handling larger industrial hazard

Fire Extinguisher training at CARE UK Charity today. 🧯

Staff training is so important, to ensure staff & volunteers feel confident to use an extinguisher if needed. We allowed staff to hold the various types of extinguishers and feel how heavy they are.

Staff & volunteers were given the chance to set of a CO2 and a Water extinguisher to feel the force of the jet and learn where to hold the extinguisher unit safely so as not to injure the user.

We provide training opportunities regularly to capture new starters at both the Warrington and Runcorn stores.

Training on how to perform the weekly testing for fire detection and emergency lighting is also available as part of the scheduled service visit.

🤓 Nerding out with bit of light reading with the IET Wiring Regs 18th Edition Amendment 4. Learning never stops here at ACE Fire Services Ltd.

Alan started his career as an electrician before moving into fire safety in 2006 but has kept up with CPD.

Whilst we don't do electrical/wiring installs per se, it's important to keep up with the regulations.

The investigation into the Widnes Fire has concluded most likely a discarded Li-Ion battery in a disposable V**e was the cause.

Please please please dispose of any batteries, no matter how small, in the correct places. There are battery and v**e bins in most shops, and at the local tips.

Batteries do NOT go into the general rubbish or recycling bins.

A damaged battery can enter thermal run away and there's nothing you can do at home or work to manage that. Imagine if this was your kitchen bin or office bin!

Big thanks to Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service who worked tirelessly for days to extinguish this fire and make this area safe.
