Veneto at DoubleTree by Hilton London Victoria.

Applied in a matt style across selected walls and ceilings as part of the hotel’s refurbishment by DesignLSM.

Dark blue and light green tones were used throughout the scheme, with the hand-applied finish introducing subtle movement and texture as light moves across the surface.

Veneto was used across the reception, bar, lift lobbies, public washrooms and dining spaces.

At Kyle House in the Scottish Highlands, Marmorin Hydro was specified by the project architect to complement the natural, contemporary character of the property.

Where is it being used?
What does the space need from the finish?
What substrate are we working with?
How much texture and movement are you looking for?
How will it sit alongside the other materials in the scheme?

These decisions can make just as much difference to the final result as the colour itself.

Viero UK is a family-run business, supplying and installing Viero finishes across the UK since 2007.

Over that time, we’ve learned that the final application is only one part of getting a finish right.

It starts with understanding the material, preparing the substrate properly, recognising potential issues early and knowing which approach will achieve the right result for the project.

That knowledge sits across the whole team, from specification and project support through to the applicators on site.

At Hotel Indigo London, the finishes needed to work with the character of the scheme rather than compete with it.

Working alongside Michaelis Boyd Architects, we applied bespoke Venetian plaster finishes throughout the hotel, introducing subtle movement, depth and warmth across the interiors.

Marmorin Hydro was also used within the bathrooms, giving the project a specialist mineral finish better suited to those areas.

The result is a contemporary interior that still connects back to Leicester Square’s theatrical history.

Colour is only part of the decision.

The texture of a finish changes how a wall reacts to light, how much movement you see across the surface and ultimately how the space feels.

Sometimes that means a very subtle finish. On other projects, you want something with more depth and variation.

It’s why we always encourage designers to look at physical samples in the actual project lighting before making a final finish selection.

Venetian plaster and microcement are often considered for the same projects, but they create very different surfaces.

Venetian plaster is typically chosen for its movement, depth and variation, with the finished surface shaped by the application itself.

Microcement gives a more continuous, mineral-looking surface and can be particularly useful where a harder-wearing system or specific performance is required.

The right choice depends on the look you are trying to achieve, where the finish is being used and how the space needs to perform.

That is why we normally start with the project rather than the product - looking at the design intent, substrate, location and practical requirements before recommending a finish.

Viero Krakkle was specified as part of a Japanese-inspired interior combining green oak, illuminated shoji screens, noren panels, brass and steel.

The finish was chosen partly for the way its cracked surface echoes the natural cracking found in oak, helping it sit naturally within the wider material palette.

Krakkle also reacts well to light, giving the walls texture, variation and a slightly earthy quality without overpowering the rest of the scheme.

A good example of a specialist decorative finish being used as part of the overall material story rather than treated as a standalone surface.
