A big transformation in Shrivenham 🏡🔨

We recently carried out the structural work to open up the existing kitchen and dining areas, creating a much larger open-plan space for the homeowners to enjoy.

Jobs like this are about much more than simply taking a wall out. Careful planning, temporary support and the correct installation of the new structural steelwork are all essential to make sure the work is carried out safely and properly.

Who said renovations have to break the bank? We completed this full renovation, 5 bed, 2.5bath, last year on a lean budget. Full rewire, fully replumbed, fully re plastered. New bathrooms. New kitchen, new bathrooms. Completely transformed the property!

Photos of new bathroom, new dining room and new lintel to support brickwork where it had failed. New plumbing too.

Very busy couple of weeks on site. 1 structural wall removal. 2 non structural, 2 windows bricked up (one partially), 1 stud wall built. This has totally transformed this space. Now open plan living and kitchen space is a lot more versatile.

Once the new lighting is fitted and plumbing adjusted, we will board and plaster the ceiling and repair walls and floor to make it useable for the next period until the next phase is ready.

We work with a structural engineer to ensure any structural work is carried out safely and correctly.

Been another busy week at Coombs Carpentry. Finishing touches sorted on the outbuilding which is nearly there now. Just waiting on glass so it can be fully sealed and completed

We’ve made a great start on the next project where we have some structural alterations including the removal of a structural wall and fitting an RSJ. Update to come on that one. We removed 2 windows on day one and bricked up where necessary for the structural rigidity required. New short term window going in this week. And steel too! Just hoping we don’t melt in the heat!
