TEAM SPOTLIGHT: Today, we’re introducing Bronwen, who joined ANB in 2015 as our Office Manager and has been an important part of the team ever since.

Bronwen brings 25 years of office management expertise to our team, she is the go-to person for our senior leadership team and plays a key role in ensuring the day-to-day running of the business stays on track. Her extensive knowledge of ANB means she keeps everything behind the scenes moving seamlessly. Bronwen also works closely with Kim, who looks after our accounts and Sally, who manages our firewood orders.

When Bronwen’s not keeping the office running like clockwork, she enjoys baking and spending time outdoors with her family.

With autumn leaves falling this month, now is a great time to assess your trees and spot potential issues before winter arrives. Look out for dead, damaged or overhanging branches, signs of instability, storm damage or anything affecting buildings, vehicles, pathways or access.

For larger estates and commercial sites, it’s also a good time to consider whether a wider tree survey or management plan is needed. Our top tip is to avoid waiting for the first winter storm, identifying issues early gives you more time to plan and carry out any necessary work.

We are throwing it back today to when we supplied and planted an impressive 10,600 plants and shrubs at the Sir Nicholas Winton Memorial Garden in Oaken Grove Park, Maidenhead - our biggest soft landscaping project to date.

Designed to reflect Sir Nicholas Winton’s remarkable story and the children he helped bring to safety during the Kindertransport, the garden features a pond, water fountain, giant willow arch, winding pathways and commemorative plaques.

A truly special project and one we’re incredibly proud to have contributed to.

Schools have a duty to manage tree-related risks appropriately. This doesn’t mean every tree needs constant inspection or that healthy trees should be removed.

It means having a reasonable and proportionate approach to tree management including regular surveys, inspections, accurate records, planned maintenance and prompt action when defects are identified.

A clear tree management strategy helps schools demonstrate that safety is being taken seriously while protecting the valuable trees within their grounds.

We often find that autumn and winter weather can quickly expose drainage problems. As the weather gets wetter, keep an eye out for:

💦 Persistent standing water
💦 Waterlogged ground
💦 Water pooling around buildings
💦 Erosion
💦 Poor patio drainage
💦 High-use areas becoming difficult to access
