Our MK140-5.1 is now available for hire.

This brand new addition is a 5-axle mobile self-erecting tower crane built for tight access and fast setup, with fully automatic assembly and one-person operation.

It has a maximum lifting capacity of 8 t, a maximum hook height of 94.4 m, and a maximum reach of 58.5 m (1.9 t at full radius).

We also have an optional lattice jib extension to increase its luffing jib length to 65 metres.

Ideal for urban sites, modular builds, roofing, and steel installation, where space is limited but performance still matters.

Quick to set up, easy to move, and precise in every lift. Seems our clients are just as happy as we are.

ABA Crane Hire started with just one crane back in 1983.

Our founder, Arnold (Arnie) Baggott, took out a loan to buy it after the company he worked for went into administration.

In the early days, with nowhere else to store it, that crane was kept under a motorway bridge while Arnie worked to build something bigger.

From a one-man operation to a fleet of 32 machines and over 60 staff, the business has grown through hard work, consistency, and a commitment to doing things properly.

Arnie and his wife Anne are still involved today, while their son Adrian now runs the day-to-day operations.

A recent night shift at McArthurGlen Designer Outlets where our Grove GMK4100 was on site to remove and replace a doughnut stall as part of the ongoing development.

Night-time lifts like this help minimise disruption while allowing essential works to be completed safely and efficiently when the site is at its quietest.

With detailed lift planning, experienced operators, and the right equipment in place, the bridge was carefully lifted, secured, and prepared for its journey to the next stage of the project.

Spotted in Malta.

One of the original machines from our very first fleet is still out working today, continuing its life on projects overseas.

Always good to see where these early cranes end up and that they’re still earning their keep years later.

60t crane on site with the Lift & Shift team, removing old boilers and installing new replacements.

A smooth changeover, completed safely and on schedule.

A complex chiller replacement completed at Spectrum Point in Farnborough.

Using our LTM1110 under contract lift conditions, we removed an old unit and installed a new 4,000kg chiller on a suspended multi-storey car park with underground parking below.

With axle load limits, engineered propping, 3D surveying, and Network Rail approval all in place, this was a highly planned and controlled operation from start to finish.

Lift completed safely at 26m radius.

A strong team effort all round.
