Last week I attended a call out to a property where the shower had stopped working, after some investigation I found that the circuit had been badly extended and the joint buried within the wall, once found I ran a new feed to shower straight from isolator with no need for a joint.

🛁 This is why all electrical work especially in bathrooms should be carried out by a competent electrician.

💡 Also some badly installed downlights were discovered in the loft space!

📃 Most people don’t know but all electrical work within a bathroom requires test and certification upon completion.

Re-wiring your 🏠 💡 ⚡️🔌

⚡️ One of the most common questions at James Ford Electrical is, "how often should I rewire my home?". The answer is more complex than you might think. Several factors go into deciding when your home needs to be rewired, including:

⚡️ Age.

⚡️ Condition of its current wiring.

⚡️Whether or not you've made any recent renovations.

As a general rule of thumb, homes built before 1950 should be rewired completely. Houses built between 1950 and 1965 may need partial rewiring, while homes built after 1965 may only need minor repairs or upgrades to their current electrical system. However, remember that even newer homes may need to be rewired entirely if they have never been updated since they were first built.

⚡️ Fitted 2 Monsoon in-line fans today on a re-wire that I’m working on, these fans are fantastic, provide great ventilation and being able to install in the loft space makes them nice and quiet for the homeowner. providing the access as normal!
