Finished this week off with a couple of jobs for a customer in Walsall. The planter was starting to show signs of age so I was asked to spruce it up with some new deck board cladding. The veranda was letting the weather in between the fence and the roof so some vertical panels have been installed to allow sunlight through but keep wind and rain at bay. Another happy customer.

Started this week with a return to a customer from a couple of years ago. After building them some rear access steps and a rear patio deck, they asked if I could give their sunny front garden a bit of a porch deck so they could take advantage of the wasted space and have an extra area to sit and enjoy their property. Built using Assured Composite cedar decking with robinstimberdelivery railings to match the rear deck, this lovely deck has been added. With a little corner slope to match the existing ramp, this is a fully accessible floor level deck was just what was needed.

This week I was in Lichfield where my customers existing timber deck was on it’s last legs. Good Gardens Ground Maintenance helped with removal and recycling of the old timber. A direct upgrade to composite was requested, with a last minute change on the railing after seeing one of my recent projects. Assured Composite cedar decking on a new timber frame with some improvements to the steps and around the tree as well as a new section of railing to the front. Another very happy customer!

Final one for this week, and I was back in Polesworth, where my successful deck back in April led me to complete this deck for another member of the same family. This couple needed a flat area outside the patio doors, with steps down to the shed and greenhouse as well as a new planter area and fencing to keep the families pets enclosed. A raised 3m x 3.5m deck has been built, with steps down to the garden level to access the sheds. A last minute change of plan from just a handrail to a more substantial railing on the steps means the last few panels still need to be installed here, but the rest of the garden has been fenced off with powder coated railings from Garden Oasis topped off with timber handrails from robinstimberdelivery. Matching gates at either end allow access between all the different areas. Can’t wait to see it finished off and furnished in the next couple of weeks.

Another job completed this week after a long delay saw me in Rowley Regis installing an Assured Composite cedar deck on this 1st floor balcony area. The old rotten timber decking was removed in March before the owner had a few repairs made to the brickwork and waterproofing layer. I then installed a ‘floating’ deck on top of the new membrane to give this balcony an amazing new look.

After a long delay waiting for composite deliveries to arrive, the last few weeks have been absolutely non-stop catching up. First up is this stone grey Assured Composite deck for a couple in Walsall. Including a long section down the rear of the property alongside the kitchen and bathroom, this deck opens up onto the rear courtyard area and includes a couple of steps up to the lawn. A few repairs to the boundary fence were included as late additions, and aside from needing a fresh coat of paint on the timber, this garden upgrade is looking fantastic and ready to go.

Second job this week saw me in Cheslyn Hay where this customer wanted an upgrade to their front boundary fence. The old timbers were rotting away quite badly and they decided it was time for an upgrade. Concrete posts and gravel boards and new green timber picket fence panels from Bloxwich Fencing Ltd have really made a difference to the kerb appeal of this property. And all done in a morning, depsite the temperatures 🥵

Started this week in Blithbury for a second visit in the last couple of months. The guys at sophies_homes had asked me to repair the deck at one of their lodges after an accident with a barbecue and some burn marks in the decking. Damaged boards removed and replaced with new. Just waiting for a coat of fresh paint to blend back in.

Last week I was in Solihull where a couple had asked me to improve and extend their existing timber deck. The main deck was in decent condition, but the railings had seen better days. I was tasked with giving them an extra portion of decking alongside the steps, replacing all of the newels and rails and giving them a storage area underneath the new section. And once that was all done, a fresh coat of English Oak paint was applied to being the old and new together. With the very hot weather last week, the paint hasn’t gone on brilliant so I’ll be back for another coat in a few weeks. New slabs under the extension and polycarbonate panels to line the storage area give a fairly waterproof zone to keep the mower and garden tools safe.

In the middle of a timber deck extension but took a day off that job today for a pre arranged job in Wolverhampton. This customer had asked me to build them a 5m x 3m veranda over the patio with some privacy screening on the side. More quality polycarbonate from Omegabuild gives protection from the weather making this space usable throughout the year.
