Berkshire project update 🏡

The steel frame is now in place ready for the green oak frame roof structure, and the feature staircase has been installed. Exterior buttress supports are set, while the herringbone brick fireplace is beginning to take shape bringing some of the key architectural details of the home to life.

Set within the Chilterns landscape, this bespoke residence combines exposed oak framing and oak boarding with contemporary detailing and performance, allowing the craftsmanship and structure to remain proudly on show throughout.

Fully vaulted interiors create a striking sense of scale, while the turret staircase tower and minstrels gallery elevate the arrival experience. A curved link connects the main house to the garage block, where a flexible office space offers independent access for meeting clients and colleagues.

Overlooking the Shiant Isles, this home frames a living landscape passing ships, wildlife, and seals drifting through the scene.

A reimagined crofter’s cottage anchors the design, with chimney stacks at each end and a gable facing the wild incoming weather. Alongside it, a new wing opens up to the horizon with folding glass doors and a veranda that stretches toward the loch and sea beyond.

At the top, an observatory turret captures it all.

Tradition, reworked. Nature, uninterrupted.

Progress continues at our Arts & Crafts residence in South Oxfordshire.

The structural phase is now well advanced, with primary steelwork nearing completion and precast staircases in place. This stage has progressed in line with programme, ensuring a smooth transition into the next phase of works.

With the building’s form now clearly defined, attention turns to the roofing, where the external envelope and characteristic Arts & Crafts detailing will begin to emerge.
