A recent installation of a plant room for a school in Doncaster involved the removal of two outdated and inefficient gas boilers, with modifications made to the primary pipework to accommodate the new system. The upgrade primarily consisted of replacing 4-inch screwed steel pipes with Ideal Imax Xtra 250 kW boilers integrated into a low-loss header cascade system, along with the relocation of circulation pumps. Shunt pumps were installed prior to the low-loss header. The gas pipework was configured with two feeds to a single cascade header, minimizing the need for welding and hot work on-site while maintaining a diameter of less than 2 inches and ensuring proper working pressures. The entire system was commissioned with a comprehensive BMS upgrade, allowing the school to remain operational for students returning after the Easter break.
