Hereโs a little behind-the-scenes look at us preparing hot lime mortar using traditional methods.
When working on older stone properties, getting the mortar right matters. The type of lime, aggregate, proportions and preparation all need to be considered alongside the stone, condition of the masonry and exposure of the building.
Using an unsuitable mortar particularly one that is too hard can contribute to deterioration of softer historic masonry over time. Thatโs why we donโt believe in a one-mix-fits-all approach.
If you own an older stone property and are unsure whether the existing pointing is suitable, feel free to get in touch with us.
