Been a bit rubbish at updating the page, but here’s a snapshot of a few of the jobs we’ve been up to.
Everyone put in a cracking effort last week despite the heat.

Removal of a very compromised mature Ash.
It was a huge shame as the growth rings indicated it was circa 200yrs old.
However it was in very poor structural condition.
A very historic main leader had been lost which had caused an extensive decay pocket at the base.
It also had succumbed to Ash Dieback. Lots of fungi fruiting bodies.
It wasn’t until we started to dismantle the tree we discovered that a vast proportion of the tree’s heartwood had rotted out.
Close to the customers property.
Due to the amount of hollow logs, it has provided numerous options for making nest boxes out of.

Removal of Leylandaii.

The customer wanted them brought down to a safe height while maintaining a boundary privacy screen.

Today was another casualty of the storm, but with a happy ending.
A 100 yr old Apple tree had blown over.
The tree had a huge amount of sentimental value to the customer.

With a lot of thinking/ head scratching (from plan A to a plan E!), very limited winching options due to the wall being listed.
Initially used a farm jack to get it as high as we could, minimising weight load on the wall and then used Landy winch to get her upright.
Used an old trawler hatch to protect the wall. It helped spread the weighted load and prevent damage by the winch cable.

Root plate had suffered minimal damage, with still a strong vascular function.

It’s was a nice change to save something, considering all the prestigious trees that the Cornish landscape has lost over the last few weeks.

Massive thanks to 7bays Scaffolding for providing the scaffolding poles.
