Managing compost bays involves a continuous, three-stage cycle: filling the first bay, turning partially decomposed material into the second, and storing matured compost in the third. A 3:1 ratio of "browns" (carbon) to "greens" (nitrogen) should be added to, then moved, and turned every few weeks to speed up decomposition, aiming for a damp, aerobic mix…..well easier said than done! What about weeds? Not only in the area but also the bit around it. Luckily for us we have 6 bays and hopefully we can use the first one this Autumn! Today we sorted out out clients compost area and hopefully added more air to the mix making in aerobic. Use shredded wet cardboard for added brown (Carbon) ❤️
