A little throwback to the August bank holiday and our second West Fest!

We brought our employees and their families together for a day of fun, and it turns out the adults needed very little encouragement

The bucking bronco brought out everyone’s competitive side, with a few determined attempts to stay on the longest. The face painting proved just as popular with the grown-ups as it did with the children.

With a bouncy castle keeping the kids busy and an Oasis tribute band rounding off the evening, there was plenty for everyone to enjoy.

A big thank you to our team for all their hard work, and to everyone who joined us and made West Fest another day to remember.

WESTMADES SCHOOL SUPPORT DAY
Over the summer holidays, we lent a hand to Muscliff Primary School as part of our new School Support Day initiative.

The school is creating a new outdoor area for its Year 1 children, ready for their return in September, including a reading den, storage and mud kitchen. Our very own Ed volunteered his time and skills to provide a free day of labour, helping to build new sheds and their base.

Our School Support Day is all about using the skills we have at Westmade to give back and help schools tackle the jobs that often don't make it to the top of the list. Muscliff Primary is just one of several schools receiving support from us as part of the initiative, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of what our team gets up to.

A big thank you to Muscliff Primary School for welcoming us. We hope the Year 1 children love their new outdoor space!

PROJECT COMPLETION
We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our restoration and structural stabilisation works to The Old White House at Oaklands Catholic School. Believed to date back to the late 18th century, with significant Victorian-era alterations, the building has served a variety of purposes. Originally a private residence, it later took on roles during wartime before eventually becoming part of the Oaklands School estate.

As with many heritage buildings, once investigations began, hidden structural defects were uncovered. Beneath the surface lay significant movement and localised structural failures that required a carefully planned approach to preserve the building while securing its future.

Our works included:
• Major underpinning to stabilise the existing foundations
• Structural tying to address movement throughout the building
• Installation of new structural steelwork
• Extensive repairs to floors and walls

Due to failure within the existing floor and supporting structure, the original staircase had to be carefully removed. This provided the opportunity to design and install a new centrepiece staircase, alongside forming new door openings. All detailed to complement the character and aesthetics of the building.

This project has been about far more than repairing a building. It has been about preserving an important piece of local history while ensuring it remains safe and functional for future generations.

A huge thank you to our dedicated team, specialist subcontractors and everyone involved in bringing this project to life.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with Wimborne Town FC and to play a part in supporting the club both on and off the pitch.

For us, this partnership is about more than sponsorship. It’s about supporting our local community, encouraging the next generation through the Academy, and helping the club continue the fantastic work it does across the community.

We’re looking forward to continuing our journey together and seeing what the season ahead brings!

Up the Magpies!

𝗪𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗘 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
We believe construction is about more than just buildings. It's about supporting the communities where we work.

That's why we're proud to officially launch Westmades School Support Day. A brand-new initiative designed to give something back to local schools, academies and education providers.

We'll dedicate one full day of skilled labour, completely free of charge, helping schools tackle those maintenance jobs that often never quite make it to the top of the list. Whether it's decorating classrooms, repairing fences, hanging whiteboards, refreshing outdoor spaces or carrying out general maintenance, we're here to lend a helping hand.

We know that even the smallest improvements can make a big difference to the learning environment for pupils and staff.

𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
The recently completed refurbishment of the historic WWI building, East Boldre Village Hall, helped breathe new life into the social heart of the village.

From the moment we arrived on site, this project has been about far more than construction. Working alongside the Village Hall Committee and the wider community, we've transformed the hall into a modern, welcoming and flexible space that will serve residents for many years to come.

The works included:
• Refurbishment of the main hall and historic WWI building
• New roofing, insulation and external cladding
• Complete internal redecoration and plastering
• Refurbished toilet facilities with new plumbing and electrical installations
• Installation of a brand-new kitchen
• Reconfiguration of internal spaces to create a larger, more versatile hall with significantly increased capacity

A highlight of the project came during the refurbishment when an unexpected piece of the building's history was uncovered. A hidden hatch concealed within the original wall, providing a fascinating glimpse into the hall's past.

We were honoured to welcome Lord Montagu at the start of the project to officially mark the commencement of the refurbishment. It was a pleasure to welcome him back to see the remarkable transformation taking shape and the positive impact the new layout will have for the local community.

We're proud to have played our part in creating a space that will host community events, activities and celebrations for generations to come.
