So……another day, another melted socket. Dishwasher this time. Don’t forget that high draw appliances like dishwashers, tumble dryers, kettles etc all have heating elements. This is why they have a high draw electrically. Although this might not be the cause of the fault it’s worth checking your sockets for cracks and signs of wear. This socket was under the kitchen sink so probably hasn’t seen the light of day for years!! The constant heating and cooling of the pins on the plug can cause the plug to become loose in the socket……eventually causing arcing and potentially fire!!! Luckily this circuit was protected by an RCD which eventually tripped when the live cable burnt and touched the CPC (earth)
