It sunk in today when we started this one, just how excited I am to be doing this. Also feeling quite humbled for being given the opportunity to work on this project.
If all goes well, this is the first phase of an ongoing project at Northwood House. Stripping off some old and patched in render to this roof elevation and re rendering in traditional three coat, haired lime render.

Now the heating is back on, have you noticed some rooms just never seem to warm up?

In a lot of homes, especially older ones, heat escapes straight through the walls. It’s often the bedrooms and the rooms with outside walls that feel it most. Cold walls can also cause condensation, which is where damp and black mould start to appear.

The good news is it can be fixed from the inside. SprayCork Natural IWI is a natural cork insulation sprayed onto your inside walls. Our internal insulated lime system completed on two walls in this amazing cottage. Solid stone construction. The old blown lime work was stripped back to the stone, followed by a bit of repair work and dubbing out. Then a lime base coat was applied, the insulating and fully breathable cork layer and finally two coats of lime putty. Love doing this type of work and full credit to Josh on this one, top job 👊 @thelimecentre

A couple of jobs finished up this week. Some new door and window openings for our good friends at Alex Bailey and finished off another opening we did earlier in the summer. We were waiting sometime for the doors on that one.

I was going to hold off a bit longer before posting this one but it’s just too cool to. It’s been a privilege to be given the opportunity to work at . We were asked to do some localised, sympathetic repairs and lime repointing to sections of the fort and to partially rebuild the old blast wall. Loved every minute of it and there will be plenty more to come from the fort. We are really lucky to have some amazing work coming up in the next year or two and can’t wait to share it.
