Wood you believe it’s been 10 years? 😮

Back in August 2016, LBS welcomed Talbot Timber into the family, bringing specialist timber products, truss design, sawmilling and manufacturing into the LBS Group. 🪵

Originally spread across four locations, Talbot Timber’s Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Tenby branches were refurbished and rebranded as LBS Builders Merchants to deliver a wider range of building materials, landscaping supplies and trade essentials across South West Wales. 🚚

Meanwhile, the Pembroke Dock site kept the Talbot Timber name, becoming the home of our specialist timber operation, bringing the machinery, stock, truss and timber expertise together in one location to support projects across South Wales and beyond. 🪚

10 years on, Talbot Timber continues to measure, design, manufacture and deliver roof trusses, posi joists, structural timber, bespoke timber profiles and specialist timber products for LBS branches, trade customers, contractors, developers and self-build projects. 🏘️

And we kept on growing...
🛁 In 2021, LBS Haverfordwest relocated to a new, larger site, welcoming Total Plumbing and a dedicated LBS Kitchens & Bathrooms showroom to their team.
🔧 In 2022, Total Plumbing joined LBS Tenby, later moving next door into its own dedicated branch in 2025.

From four Talbot Timber locations to three LBS Builders Merchants branches and one specialist timber hub, this anniversary is a proud reminder of how much our West Wales teams have grown together. 🌱

Great service is built by great people, and we're proud to have Nigel as one of our internal sales advisors at LBS Builders Merchants Cardiff Ely. 🧱

"I’ve worked in the building materials industry since I was 15, across various companies over the years.
I already knew a few people who worked for LBS, and they always had good things to say about the company, so when I saw that LBS had opened a branch in Cardiff Ely, I decided to apply for the Internal Sales role and joined the team in October 2023.

It’s one of those jobs where I wake up every morning and genuinely look forward to coming into work and interacting with my customers.
I’ve always made it a priority to go that extra mile on a daily basis, which has really helped me build solid relationships with them over the years.

We have a brilliant atmosphere at Cardiff Ely. Everyone gets on and works so well as a team. I even follow our driver, Leon, on social media, as he happens to be a very accomplished DJ!
It’s been great to welcome Gareth to the team as our Branch Manager. I worked with him many moons ago when I was his Assistant Branch Manager, so we often find ourselves talking about the past.

Growing up in a military family, I always wanted to follow in their footsteps.
My father was an officer in the Military Police, while my grandfather served in Army Intelligence in India during the war.
I spent four years in the cadets and earned my marksman certificate, but sadly, nerve deafness kept me from joining the regulars.
I was heartbroken at the time, but I keep a positive outlook by staying grateful for what I have rather than worrying about what I don’t.
You should never be too harsh on yourself, and I try to treat myself as I would a good friend, making time to do something that makes me smile every day.

Outside of work, I’m a keen gardener and enjoy growing my own vegetables, usually with good results.
I’ve owned a classic car for 21 years, which I used to take to car shows with my son, who had a classic car of his own.
I have a real love for nostalgia. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched the Back to the Future trilogy, and I’m a huge Elvis fan. I’d love to visit Memphis, Tennessee, one day and see Graceland for myself."
