Cardboard and compost is the best method I've found to reset a garden bed and make it low maintenance.
Of course, firstly you need to remove any weeds and dig over the bed before hand to make the chances as slim as possible for any weeds to grow through.
I tend to plant the selected plants before I lay down the cardboard so that when i did the hole, I dont have to shovel the soil on top and I can have a nice clean finnish
And lastly I use products from
Especially there beds and borders compost, and also their magic mulch as the compost looks the best on the beds (in my opinion) and the magic mulch is incredible at discouraging slugs/snails from vulnerable plants.
