We are still on the lookout for an additional person to join our friendly team to help us in our busy schedule of tuning and maintenance, restoration, rebuilds and repairs.
It would suit a younger person prepared to start at the bottom of the ladder or someone a little older with transferable practical skills.

In between trying to rescue dead or dying organs caused by the long dry spell and recent heatwaves we have been keeping our restoration project at St Allen Church, not far out of Truro , on the go. It is a sheer delight working on this little instrument; everything nice and sturdy and well made. Its basic condition very good. A good clean and overhaul will see it right for another generation.

A new one to us St Neot Methodist Church; a delightful picturesque village on the edge of Bodmin Moor which sits in a peaceful sheltered valley. This building quite a surprise; a fairly modern chapel with a well appointed hall next door, excellent facilities and everything in a good state of repair. The organ, a medium size two manual, all tracker action, by Kirkland. Moved here many many years ago we think from a redundant chapel in nearby Liskeard. We did our best in the space of an afternoon to sort it out. Sadly everything a bit rough and ready; the instrument is not used that often but it would make a good restoration if funds allowed. We will do our best to keep it on track.

Spreyton near Okehampton, a picturesque village and church just off the A30. We hadn’t seen this number for about six years. It took us several hours to straighten it up! A nondescript one manual built possibly by Hele using second hand materials and of course Mr Osmond has put his stamp on it on past years.
We always enjoy a trip to RNAS Culdrose to keep this unconventional organ on track. Always a warm welcome with a cup of coffee ☕️

For something of a break from racing around doing our best to resurrect dying organs caused by the lengthy dry spell and several heatwaves we have a very nice cleaning and overhaul job on our doorstep. St Allen Parish Church : seems to be in the middle of nowhere but is quite close to both Truro and the A30. A delightful spot with a very sparse population, quiet and peaceful. The church is in excellent order with good facilities. The little, all mechanical action Hele organ 1902 we transferred here from the nearby redundant Methodist church at Zelah. Throughout its lifetime it has been regularly maintained and every thirty years or so has been overhauled.

Have you missed us? We have been over to France for our holiday where it was even hotter than here. We spent most of our time either in the sea or sitting in the shade with a glass of something cold but did, of course, look in some churches and even went to one organ recital. Back to work now; not especially looking forward to dealing with the organ problems caused by the long dry period and heat waves. Cyphers, whimpering soundboards, manual touches shrunk, split wood pipes and weights fallen off the reed tongues. We remember 1976 so we won’t panic ! But please check that your organ heaters are switched OFF! They are not needed at the moment for sure.
