I wrote a new song called "Family Is Worth the Work." (A.I thankfully sung my lyrics 😂)It is about how I work hard every day for my kids. I love them so much, and everything I do is for them. You can listen to it in the video below. 👍

MUSSLEBURGH (eastlothian)

The team scraped back all moss growth to the ridgeline and all roof tiles then sprayed down with a biocide treatment to help delay any future moss growth.

We re-pointed the full ridge line with a solid sand and cement mixture to keep the property wind and watertight.

Say goodbye to water damage! Our expert team at John Brash Traditional Roofing Services recently installed a new code 4 secret lead gutter in Pencaitland, solving the issue of neighbouring roofs not aligning and leaving slates exposed

Secret gutters are installed on roofs to provide a hidden, secondary waterproof barrier against wind-driven rain at junctions between roof slopes and walls or to connect different roof types. (Like the roof carried out in the photos) They prevent water from entering at vulnerable points, particularly where tiles meet chimneys or walls, directing it away from the building and into the gutters.

It’s vital to have your roof inspected regularly as not all problems are visible.

We were called out due to a previous company that had accidentally damaged the felt barrier carrying out a roof clean.
The previous company attempted to fix the problem using a silicone adhesive.

Why is roof membrane so important?….

Repairing roof underlay (felt) in the UK is vital to prevent water ingress, structural timber rot, and dampness caused by the country's harsh, wet, and windy climate. Acting as a secondary, essential barrier beneath tiles, it prevents leaks from wind-driven rain or broken tiles, extending the overall roof lifespan and preventing costly interior damage.

A dry ridge system offers numerous benefits over traditional mortar, including faster, cheaper installation, superior weather resistance (especially wind), being virtually maintenance-free, providing crucial roof ventilation to prevent condensation, and greater flexibility to accommodate roof movement, making it a durable, long-term solution.

Key Advantages:
Low Maintenance: No mortar means no repointing needed, saving money and hassle.

Weatherproof & Secure: Mechanically fixed, they withstand high winds and heavy rain better than mortar, preventing tile blow-off.

Enhanced Ventilation: Built-in ventilation reduces harmful condensation, protecting your roof structure and preventing rot.

Flexible: Allows for natural roof expansion, contraction, and vibration without cracking.Fast Installation: Quicker to fit, reducing labour costs and time.

Durable: Long-lasting, with some systems offering long guarantees.
