If you're farming or managing land in England, there are some changes to government support worth having on your radar.
The UK Government has announced a £290 million package to make farming schemes simpler and more accessible, with a particular focus on helping smaller and family-run farms.
Some of the headlines include:
🌱 £240 million for the new Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI26), rewarding practical actions such as improving soil health, protecting water quality and creating habitats for wildlife.
🌳 At least £50 million for new Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier agreements, supporting more ambitious environmental projects.
📅 Applications for the first group of eligible farms are expected to open from 30 June, with further application windows expected later in the year.
For landowners considering woodland creation, shelterbelts, hedgerow planting or wider environmental improvements, these schemes could help support projects that benefit both the farm business and the landscape.
At Alba Trees, we work with farmers, estates and land managers across the UK, supplying both cell-grown and bare root trees, along with hedging plants, for projects of every size. Get in touch if you want to discuss what funding may be available and discussing your planting requirements.
