One of our engineers recently attended a site to carry out a scheduled 6-monthly Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on a Scotsman ice machine.

But when he arrived, the machine was in such a dirty condition that the PPM could not be completed safely or effectively.

It needed a deep clean first.

What is a deep clean?
A deep clean is a thorough clean and sanitisation of the machine to remove built-up dirt, scale, bacteria and other contamination from the areas that come into contact with water and ice, as well as the machine's internal and external components.

What is a 6-monthly PPM?
A PPM is about maintaining the machine and identifying potential problems before they become costly breakdowns. This can include checking the machine's operation, components, water system, refrigeration system, condenser, temperatures and overall condition, along with carrying out the manufacturer's recommended maintenance.

One doesn't replace the other.
