📐 More Than Just a Floor Plan…

A detailed measured building survey should show more than simply what’s inside the four walls.

Alongside the internal layout, our drawings can incorporate detailed topographic information immediately surrounding the building. Including ground levels, steps, retaining walls, paving, planting areas, boundaries and other key external features.

We also capture and show roof detail, giving the design team a much clearer understanding of how the different parts of the building relate to one another.

Bringing all of this information together within the same survey package provides architects and designers with a far more complete picture of the existing property, particularly where there are complex levels, extensions or roof forms.

Another day, another fantastic South Devon location! 📐

We’ve recently completed a detailed topographic survey in Dartmouth, accurately capturing the existing ground levels, boundaries and key site features to provide the design team with a reliable base for their proposals.

With Dartmouth’s steep terrain and dramatic changes in level, having accurate survey information is particularly important when it comes to understanding how a site relates to its surroundings.

And with views across the town and out towards the River Dart, there are certainly worse places to spend a day surveying! 👌

📍 New Project – Combe Martin, North Devon

We’ve recently started work on another fantastic project, this time in Combe Martin, North Devon.

The initial stage of the project involves producing a comprehensive measured building survey, including detailed floor plans, elevations and sections of the property.

The surrounding landscape is equally important, so we’ll also be returning to site during the winter months, when the foliage has reduced, to carry out a wider survey of the site and capture the areas currently hidden by vegetation.

Working in locations like this really highlights the importance of choosing the right time of year for surveying — sometimes you simply have to wait for nature to give you a clearer view! 🌿📐

We’ll be back in the winter to complete the wider site survey and look forward to sharing more from this project as it progresses.

📍 New Project – Wiltshire

We recently had the pleasure of working on a fantastic project in Wiltshire, undertaking a comprehensive survey of this rural property and its surrounding grounds.

The project involved a full measured building survey, including detailed plans and sections, alongside a large-scale topographic survey covering the wider site and surrounding land.

With a property set within such a varied landscape, capturing the relationship between the buildings, gardens, fields, woodland and changes in ground levels was particularly important.

Our survey data provides a detailed and accurate foundation for the design and development work that follows.
