Today we completed the installation of a new defibrillator at Paignton Library, finished to the highest standard and fully compliant with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

All external holes were sealed with silicone to prevent water ingress, while internal works were neatly completed and caulked to ensure a seamless trunking finish.

Having a publicly accessible defibrillator in the heart of the community is vital—it can quite literally save lives and provides reassurance to everyone who lives, works, or visits the area.

We are proud to deliver work like this during Havills’ 80th year of trading, continuing our long-standing commitment to quality, safety, and supporting local communities.

Consumer Unit Upgrade ⚡️

The existing split-load consumer unit was safely removed and replaced with a new 15-way RCBO consumer unit, complete with integrated surge protection.

Unlike the previous split-load RCD arrangement, the new installation provides individual RCD protection to each circuit, ensuring that in the event of a fault only the affected circuit is disconnected, preventing loss of multiple circuits and nuisance tripping.

All works carried out in full compliance with the current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

The new consumer unit was repositioned to a lower height to improve accessibility and ease of use for the homeowner. The installation was fully tested, commissioned, and left compliant and operational.
