This Gaura lindheimeri (renamed Oenothera lindheimeri) has been very happy with the hot, dry weather this summer. It has been flowering for a couple of months so far.

This lovely Perovskia (reclassified so now a Salvia), or Russian Sage as it is also known, has thrived this year. Definitely drought-tolerant.

Echinacea, also known as Cone Flower, is a great perennial for late summer colour that is loved by bees and butterflies. Great for prairie-style planting mixed with grasses or in traditional mixed and herbaceous borders.

This Persian silk tree (also known as Mimosa) has been loving the heat wave. It is covered in flowers this year. I took this last Friday morning. The sky is so blue it doesn't look real.

It's "proper" name is Albizia julibrissin for those that like to know these things. I'll be honest I had to look it up 😆

It's time to prune your lavender! Cut it at the base of the flower stalks to leave a nice bushy plant.

Cephalaria gigantea is more commonly known as Giant Scabious. The pale lemon flowers are held on tall, slender stems of about 2m throughout the summer. Great at the back of a border. The flowers are rich in nectar attracting bees, moths, butterflies and other pollinators. They make good cut flowers
