Why We Use the Scrape & Biocide Method — Not High-Pressure Roof Cleaning

So why do we use the Scrape & Biocide method rather than pressure washing?
🏠 We don't walk on your roof
We work from a scaffold tower and avoid walking directly on the roof wherever possible.
That means we can carry out the work without putting unnecessary weight and foot traffic onto your tiles — helping to reduce the risk of cracked, displaced or damaged tiles 😊
🌿 We remove the growth — then treat the cause
Our process involves carefully removing the existing moss and organic growth using controlled scraping techniques, followed by the application of an appropriate biocidal treatment.
The biocide is there to treat remaining organic growth and help prevent the rapid return of moss, algae and other biological growth.
The result isn't simply a roof that looks clean on the day — the treatment is designed to provide long-lasting results, when correctly applied and maintained.
💧 Why not simply pressure wash?
Pressure washing can produce an immediate visual result, but high-pressure cleaning can be unnecessarily aggressive on older or more delicate roof coverings.
Our approach is designed to achieve the clean appearance customers want while using a controlled, low-impact cleaning method.

HSE guidance recognises biocide application followed by gentle scraping as a method used in specialist cleaning work, with products needing to be used in accordance with their applicable requirements and label instructions.
It's also important to ask any contractor what products they are using and whether those products are legally authorised/allowed for the intended use. HSE maintains information on GB biocidal product authorisation and Article 95 requirements.
A clean roof is good. A clean roof that's been treated properly and cleaned with care is even better.👌🏻
