We're back on the road for our first larger of the year, this time down near Banchory. We've been really lucky with the weather, it's been stunning!

This week we delivered our first smaller Timbertunnel. At 2.4m wide it fits on a trailer so we can build it in our workshop and deliver it premade. This means we could unload and install it on site in under 4 hours... Perfect for short winter days! This one was 4.2m long but we can also make a 3.2m version.

It might be smaller but it's still a very usable space, with over 2.4m height in the centre and a full height door wide enough for a wheelbarrow.

This week we're working on a new Timbertunnel design! Quite a few folk have requested a smaller tunnel, so this one is 2.4m (8ft) wide. It's still got a nice high centre, and feels like a great usable size. These could also be great as multi purpose spaces or potting sheds.

We're hoping to be able to lift it onto the trailer and deliver it pre-assembled... I think we'll definitely need our Weetabix that day and I'm intrigued as to what it'll look like perched up on the trailer!

We've been straight onto the next tunnel build, this time near Castle Douglas, in a lovely and productive but exposed vegetable garden. They'd been planning a tunnel for 25 years since moving here so are delighted to finally have one! This 5.5 x 3.2m tunnel nestles perfectly into the garden and should help to shelter nearby apple trees too which keep blowing over!

A well earned day off today before we head to the gathering this weekend near Biggar, can't wait!

We're all finished in Moffat, and while chatting the other night we worked out we've now built 20 timbertunnels over the last year and a half!

The customer is thrilled and we'll actually be back in Spring to add a third, smaller tunnel next to these two which will be just for propagation. They have big plans for these and I'm looking forward to hearing about their progress.

We're straight onto another build this week in the area, but will have a bit of a rest afterwards I think!

This week we’ve been back in and around Carrbridge for a new Timbertunnel build and it gave us a great chance to check in on a few of last years builds. We love the ingenious hanging ideas and max use of space in this fairly small 6x3m tunnel. A huge amount of food has come out of here already since last summer. There’s even an apricot tree in there!

Well that was a challenging week! We’ve just finished this 4x7m over in Drumbeg and had two days of gales to contend with and a day of heavy rain in the middle, which flooded the tunnel and our work tent! Still, we had a lovely shepherds hut to stay in thanks to the customer and even had time for a hot tub last night after a long day. It’s a stunning part of Scotland and fortunately we’ll get to go back to the west a few times over the season this year for more timbertunnel builds.

This week we’re working on my own Timbertunnel on our croft , and today we got the sheets on. This will be a multi use space so I’ve opted for mostly “opal” tinted sheets so it doesn’t get as hot inside. They’re also partly made from recycled polycarbonate which is a bonus. The gables will be left open for now so it’s just the cover strips and ridge left to do.

But that will have to wait a bit as we’re onto the next installation shortly, heading out to the north west so need to get back into the workshop for that.
