Cut it now. Get the rewards next year. ✂️🌸
Today’s job — taming a wisteria that had exploded with summer growth and giving the lavender its post-flowering tidy-up.
The wisteria was reduced to remove all that long, whippy growth, opening it up for better airflow and light while helping encourage next year’s flowers.
The lavender had finished flowering, so off came the spent flowers and it was shaped back into a neat mound — but always leaving plenty of green growth and avoiding cutting hard into the old woody stems.
It’s not just about making a garden look tidy.
Prune at the right time, in the right way, and you’re already working towards next year’s display. 🌿💪
