The costliest move-or-improve decision is the one made without knowing what’s possible.
Ahead of the Budget, it’s understandable to weigh potential changes to Stamp Duty and property taxes. But headlines alone cannot tell you whether your current home can support the life you want, or whether another property would serve you better.
Some limits cannot be designed away. If you need a different location, more land or a new school catchment, moving may be the right answer.
If you love where you live, improving could unlock more than you expect. A reworked layout, considered interiors or a garden designed around family life can change how you experience a property without requiring a major extension.
Either path calls for the same first step: establish what the property can accommodate, what planning may allow, and what the work is likely to cost to deliver.
The goal is not to choose moving over improving. It’s to make either decision with your eyes open.
