We're looking for Skilled Trades People!

Purpose & Objectives

• Carry out trades and site tasks to a high standard.

Main Duties & Tasks
• Carry out trade tasks on site (dependent on skills and experience). Examples of this can include:
- First and second fix carpentry.
• Other trade tasks that may also be undertaken (dependent on skills and experience). Examples of this can include:
- General bricklaying and fencing duties, minor extensions, concrete ramps, brick and block walls, chimney repairs and repointing.
- Kitchen and shop fitting.
- Plumbing.
- Painting and decorating including all preparation, sanding etc.
- Building work.
- Undertake routine domestic maintenance work.
- Domestic refurbishment work
• Work effectively with the team to ensure the job is complete on time and to a high standard.
• Liaise with the Clients, being police and responding to any issues or queries raised. Refer to site foreman where necessary.
• Reading drawings to determine job requirements and ensure works carried out correctly.
• Work in a safe manner using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
• Ensure the site is tidy at all times.
• Support the induction for new staff and passing on knowledge and doing on the job training for apprentices.
• Keep own trade and if appropriate building skills, training courses and knowledge up to date.
• Ensure all site work personally carried out is efficient, effective and in a safe manner with due regard to Health and Safety requirements and other technical guidance such as Building Regulations.
• Be flexible in approach to hours and undertake any other similar duties, as required by the Contracts Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience (essential & desirable)
• Relevant qualifications (if applicable to the trade e.g. up to NVQ3) with substantial and proven experience and capable of undertaking one or more skills across the building industry in the following trades: Carpentry, bricklaying, building, decorating, plumbing and electrical.
• Full clean driving license.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of the Construction Industry and trades.

Barr Group Ltd are looking for a full time quantity surveyor to join their thriving construction team. The job role will be to deliver contractually robust tenders to meet deadlines and to ensure contracts are surveyed and managed accurately and professionally.

The role will involve post tender subcontractor and supplier procurement and accounts management, project valuation, forecasting and financial submission. There may also be involvement in the tender process and contact negotiation stages. This individual will need to be methodical, highly accurate and detail orientated. In liaising with clients, architects, PQS firms, suppliers and subcontractors this person will need to be adept at building relationships and working collaboratively.

The ideal candidate will be a positive force within the organisation, contributing to new business development as well as suggesting and implementing improvements to current procedures and standards.
