🚲 CUTTING COSTS. NOT CORNERS.
We’ve had a look at the transport budget. The lads have a few questions about the proposed new fleet… mainly who’s pedalling the cement mixer up a hill. 😂
Joking aside, some of the political statements we hear about how businesses should adapt sound much simpler at a podium than they do on a wet Monday morning with a team to get to site and a tonne of materials to move.
For a landscaping business, transport isn’t just about getting ourselves to work. It’s getting the tools, machinery and materials there, then taking the waste away afterwards. A cargo bike might suit some businesses brilliantly. Ours would need thighs of steel and a very generous definition of “hand luggage”.
We’re all for practical progress. Better efficiency, less waste and cleaner ways of working are worthwhile ambitions. But making them work means understanding the job, the costs and the alternatives actually available.
Whatever the party, we’d welcome more time spent listening to the people expected to put those ideas into practice. Come out on site, help load up and see what a working day involves. We’ll even put the kettle on. ☕
At Priestgate, we’ll keep looking for sensible ways to improve while protecting the quality our customers pay for.
Same team. Same standards. More pedalling.
Well… perhaps not that last bit. 😉
