A roofβ¦ on a roofβ¦ on another roof! π€¦ββοΈπ
We were called out to this flat roof after the customer experienced leaking, despite having had the roof worked on by another local tradesman not too long ago.
Once we inspected it, it quickly became clear what had happened. A rubber roof had been installed directly over the existing felt roof, along with a makeshift internal outlet β unfortunately, neither had been installed correctly.
So, we stripped the roof right back and started again properly.
π¨ Furring strips installed at both ends to create the correct fall towards the internal outlets
π¨ 18mm OSB boards fitted over the new furring strips
π¨ First metre of the adjoining roof section replaced to rectify the previous installation around the tiles
π¨ GRP kerb trims fitted to both ends
π¨ Liquid rubber and mesh roofing system installed
π¨ Complete 4-layer waterproofing system
The result is a properly constructed roof with the correct falls and drainage, designed to keep the water moving where it should β off the roof, not into the house!
Sometimes the most important part of roofing is knowing whatβs underneath before you start putting anything on top. π
