🐦‍🔥Another highly successful week of Summer courses!! 🐦‍🔥🌟🌟

🐦‍🔥 Children putting into practice what they’ve learned each day and progressing with new drills, new challenges and new targets! The amount of swimming that has been achieved by all has been great to see! 30 minute each day 1-2-1 lessons over 5 days is a long time to really push all aspects of swimming drills techniques and water confidence and oh my the children have accomplished this in abundance! 😃 Duckling badges Stage badges metre badges 🙌

🐦‍🔥 I know the teachers have had as much fun as the children especially with teaching all different kinds of abilities 😃 a huge thank you as always to the team for all their hard work and efforts with your children…. Archie Georgia Zara Macey Maya Eve!

🌟 What an amazing week of courses from the children! As you can tell by the picture the amount that was achieved by all was fantastic, newbies and regulars alike….

🌟 Ranging from achieving first badges Duckling 1 building up that water confidence moving right up to Stage 7 and moving forwards with stroke techniques and stamina…. Not forgetting the amount of club swimmers we had too all looking to work on different aspects of their swimming. To see the children coming away with smiles on faces, targets hit and wanting to come back is what it’s all about and us teachers have had a great week teaching them all!

🌟 A huge thank you to Zara Archie Eve Tabitha Evie Abi Oscar for all their efforts with the children and pushing them as much as possible to achieve these great results!

🌟 Already can’t wait to our next course starting on the 3rd August!

Another weekend and another National Competition…. Sheffield for the English Schools Relay Champs! I couldn’t ask for more from this group competing and holding their own against the top School teams across the Country. Finishing 6th in our heat and 19th overall in the Freestyle Relay with a 5 second PB was great enough but up step the Medley Relay and we go and qualify for the B final eventually finishing 14th overall against the top 25 Swim Schools in the Country with a huge 7 second PB in 1.14.

The progression of the swimming over the past few years has been incredible and this year we’ve gone up a notch. Taking the model that most top Swim Schools use, changing the structure from the top, putting more emphasis of having yearly targets, individual progression plans and delving deeper into the body mechanics is paying off massively. Everyone works so hard day in day out we love what we do and getting to work with these children each day makes it all worth while. I’m telling you now I’ll be pushing this as hard as I can to get Wrekin some National honours sooner rather than later 😀🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

What a journey this has been! Had this girl from a very young age a total beginner and yesterday her swimming journey continued to London Aquatics Centre for the IAPS Nationals. The thousands of hours in the pool, the effort the drive the dedication just shows it pays off. The Years of 1-2-1’s, the school lessons, the extra school lessons, the swim squads and the hours and hours spent in the pool at Wrekin Swim Club! Yesterday was the best she’s ever swam, everything clicked together…. Qualified in 14th in 50m Freestyle, our target was a pb and to get as close to the final as possible…. Well a huge 1.89 second quicker than qualifying and a 10th place in 34.26 put Kitty into the final, was absolutely buzzing! An unbelievable achievement! Over a year ago we set out a plan to reach the finals, sat down with mom and dad and showed them what I want her to achieve and it’s coming together. Over the moon! No rest though and this shows her dedication we’ve got a coaching session today ready for Sheffield in 2 weeks and more upcoming big events! Let’s go!!!! 😃😃

2 National Finals in the next couple of weeks in separate competitions. Some Year we’ve had 🏆 the dedication, hard work, adaptability and persistence is paying off 10 fold. Love this project! 😃🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Getting to coach these children day in day out is the reason why I got into coaching. I taught each and everyone of these from such a young age and basically taught them to swim making this one of my proudest moments. They work so hard during our school sessions, swim squads and outside 1-2-1’s I could not ask for more, even though I do want more from them 😂. I said at the start of the Year to them all we’ve got targets to hit:
Telford and Wrekin Champions
County Prep Champions
Qualify for IAPS Nationals finals
Qualify for English Schools National relays… and we’ve done the lot. The best thing about it is there’s still so much more to come from this bunch and all of our other swimmers who push each other on a daily basis. Proud is an understatement 😃😃😃😃

A massive congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 swimmers who competed in the Telford and Wrekin Primary Schools Gala last night. Our swimmers swam in individual races across all 4 strokes and both relays, overall coming first in our category, a fantastic performance by all, well done Wrekin Prep!

Love using this drill for freestyle. Used for slowing strokes down and hitting the 3 main checkpoints…. Hold for 3 seconds…. the pull towards the hips while starting the rotation from hips and shoulders… high elbow recovery hold… extension of hand entry… Slowing strokes down is perfect for ironing out bad habits, repetitive drills over and over then move into full strokes 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️
