⚠️ CHIMNEY CAPPING WARNING! ⚠️

Two jobs. Two “roofers.” Both still leaking. Here’s why you need to be careful:

Job 1:

Customer (nearly) paid way over the odds.

What they got: a thin quick-fix layer of Acrypol slapped on & a broken slate left unrepaired & created by the roofer.

Result? Temporary at best. More than double what a proper quote would’ve been & more damage than originally started with.

Job 2:

Effort was there, but mortor depth & composition were wrong.

Lasted 8 months before cracking and leaking again.

✅ Both jobs now fixed properly with 20-year minimum lifespan & guarantee.

Lessons Learned:💯

Don’t rush your roofer — take the time to check reviews & credentials & if need be, wait for the right one..

Pay a fair price, once, for proper work.

Be alert: some are only in it for the money. Others care about doing it right.

💡 Stay vigilant, ask questions, and don’t fall for quick fixes.

Hey guys! Hope everyones keeping well!🤗

Just a little courtesy message to apologise to anyone that's fallen through the cracks recently!

There's no real excuse, although I Will say, inundated beyond your wildest dreams would be a mild understatement!

You see the thing with running an operation like this & also being ever so slightly an over the top perfectionist means employing staff to work at the standard required becomes tricky, this in turn equals me/ moi having to literally be a......

A: Receptionist,
B: A personal assistant
C: Often a labourer
D: A social media content creator (christ.... I have work from 6 years ago that still needs posting🤦‍♂️)
E: A job surveyor
and F: my personal favourite....A specialist roofing contractor!

I mean credits due, the customers I do have time to carry out Roofworks for, are always happy with my service!

But not often, but sometimes, there just really isn't enough hours in the day, especially when contending with bad weather & shorter days!

Royally destroying any Roofers work schedule/ plan of action.....Every time!

So Thankyou kindly for everyone's patience, for customers that by the time im finished with there Roofworks often become good friends & apologies to the cases, where once in a blue moon i may of promised to assess, then not necessarily found the time!

Trust me when I say it pains me just as much as you!

One tip i Will say....Is often...well 95% of the time customers Will wait till the bad weather sets in before inquiring to repair there leaking roof issues!

Of course that makes sense to a customer & im sure if I wasn't in the trade I'd do exactly the same!

However the reality is, that once winter sets in, the phone does not stop, the bad weather never let's up, emergency repair work is pretty much on the daily & Roofers that like things just right struggle to carry out Roofworks, knowing that short & rainy days sometimes means rushing!

Unfortunately it's the bare truth!

Ill never rush a job, I take a lot of proud in my work & it will always stay that way!

So if you know you genuinely have a roofing issue before the bad weather sets in, I know easier said than done, but maybe try to give me a heads up asap!🙏

So of course we went for Marley modern tiles, Ridge & hips, all vented, hips vented, Ridge vented,
Repointing of top sections of chimney, Mineral top cap wrapped main chimney breasts & all new lead work through out!

Maintenance free for many years!

Here is the gulley that we recently visited & had to replace (see recent previous post) which was literally a year old, however required replacement due to its incorrect manner of fitment.

A premium 3 layer mineral bitumen top cap system was exactly what it needed! Unfortunately there was just no saving the existing rubbish!

I see this time & time again, poor customers being talked into a new "gimmicky" product! In this example "Rubber bond"

Now with the 27 years Roofing experience i possess, i confidently & honestly will only tell you the truth.....

I pride myself on this & it's the reason I have many many returning customers with great reviews!

Rubber bond belongs in ponds....Nowhere else.
Fibreglass belongs on boats or cars......nowhere else.

If you have a flatroof or gulley, then using a premium 3 layer mineral bitumen felt system is the best product you can use.

A tried & tested product, that as long as it is applied correctly will more than stand the test of time!

Will contract & expand with changing temperatures & will also always look far more aesthetically pleasing than the inferior alternatives.

In an ideal world you would use lead for a gulley, however price wise it's often not plausible for many customers.

Take my word for it! Do not be talked around to have an inferior product that is quicker for a tradesman to apply & will cost you more money than the methods i recommend.

Think as me as your trusted local roofer, who only ever speaks truth & who only ever wants to provide an honest opinion of events & ultimately what your roof needs.

Don't be had.....like most try to unfortunately!

A nice little full Ventillation system install!💯⚒️

I often get customers thinking that they have a leak/ Water ingress when in actual fact the issue lies with lack of adequate Ventilation & in turn condensation build up!

This entite loft space was saturated! (See video)

The answer: A full Ventilation system install!

Removal of old ridge, replaced with new & fixed by means of a dry ventilated ridge system & also Ventilation (specific for the particular roof covering) added to the lower parts of all elevations, spaced accordingly.

When used in conjunction with one another they provide well needed through draft ventilation to your loft space.

A requirement nowadays on all new build work!

People will say, "just open your windows more often" Now we all know this is far from practical in the winter months when trying to contain & preserve heat,

Now you have a warmer/ dryer home in the winter months & cooler in the summer months & the added bonus of not creating internal (condensation) leaks nor destroying your roof structure due to high levels of condensation/ moisture build up.

Plus the added bonus of a little face lift to the exterior of your roof, framing it nicely with an upgraded ridgeline,

We also wrapped this customers chimney in a premium mineral bitumen topcap felt as it was started to give way.

By far the most cost effective & performance enhancing way of dealing with a chimney that has render failure.
Far more aesthetically pleasing than out dated render that requires constant painting/ maintenance also.

Extremely disappointed to find that this gulley, which was replaced just a year or so ago & at a significant cost, has already failed.

With the roof now leaking severely, there is no choice but to start over and ensure the job is done right.

Disclaimer: Half not my work!!!!

But yet another So called Reputable Roofing company that completed a roof overhaul to this standard......⬇️

Now the list of wrong is just too long to mention, just look at, speaks for its self!

Needless to say we had to rip this roof apart, it was only 8 months old, full report carried out for customer & delighted to say she won back every penny the robbing scum bags had from her!🙌

We initially completed it at a huge discounted rate as it was Christmas & the poor lady just couldn't afford it, but we wanted to helo!

After her win she offered us more money, I said keep it & take your beautiful family on holiday, you deserve it!

After all giving back from time to time is what life's all about!💯👌
