☀️🌳Torbay From the Treetops

It’s been a seriously hot summer for our teams out on the tools, but days like this certainly have their perks!

These cracking shots were taken by one of our arborists while working high up in the canopy, looking straight out across Torbay.

When you spend your working days climbing trees, you definitely get to see the South West from a perspective most people don’t.

A tough summer in the heat, but with views over the bay like these, we can’t complain too much! 🌊🌳

🌳 Cedar Removal in Torquay

Our tree team have recently been in Torquay to safely dismantle and remove this Cedar, which unfortunately had shown no signs of life throughout the growing season.

The team carefully worked their way through the tree, safely bringing it down in sections and removing the arising material from site for recycling.

A great display of skilled climbing and teamwork — with some cracking action shots!

As part of the permission for the removal, a replacement tree is required to be planted in the future.

Another safe and tidy job completed by the Teign Trees team. Great work all round! 👏🌳

🌳 Pollarding Across Bristol

Our Teign Trees & Landscapes teams have been busy carrying out pollarding works for Bristol City Council – and we’re thrilled to be involved in helping manage trees across the city.

Here’s a little look at some of the work completed so far!

Pollarding is an important part of managing certain trees within busy urban environments, particularly across housing estates, streets and city centres. Carrying out planned works helps to:

🌿 Manage the size and shape of established trees
🏡 Maintain suitable clearance around properties, roads and public spaces
🌳 Encourage controlled, healthy new growth for the following season
☀️ Manage excessive shading and overhanging growth
🛠️ Keep trees manageable as part of a long-term maintenance programme

With the growing season beginning to slow as we head towards autumn, this work helps prepare the trees for their next cycle of growth and keeps them managed for the year ahead.

🌳 Mature Oak Crown Reduction

A great bit of climbing work from the team on this impressive mature English Oak in Dawlish.

With parts of the canopy extending beyond the boundary, our arborists carried out a selective crown reduction, carefully targeting the overextended growth while retaining the tree’s natural shape, structure and character.

It’s all about reducing what’s needed without over-pruning such a fantastic mature tree.

🎓 A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO RYAN & DOM! 🌳

After two years of training, learning and plenty of hard graft, Ryan and Dom are now officially qualified Arborists – both achieving a DISTINCTION! 👏

Over the last couple of years, they’ve balanced college training with working alongside our experienced teams, developing their skills out on site and putting everything they’ve learnt into practice.

We’ve also received some fantastic feedback from bictoncollege, with both Dom and Ryan being highly praised for their efforts and achievements throughout their training – something they should both be incredibly proud of.

Achieving a Distinction is a brilliant result and thoroughly deserved after the commitment they’ve shown over the last two years.

For us, it’s also great to see two more arborists develop through the business and become fully qualified members of the team. Investing in training and bringing the next generation of arborists through is a big part of what we do, and seeing results like this makes it all worthwhile.

Massive congratulations Ryan & Dom – you’ve grafted for it, earned it and should be very proud! 🌳👏

🌳 CELEBRATING 5 YEARS WITH TEIGN TREES! 🌳

This year, we’re proud to celebrate a brilliant milestone for three of our arborists – Lee, Ben and Mike, who have all reached 5 years with Teign Trees & Landscapes!

Over the past five years, they’ve each become a valued part of our team, bringing plenty of skill, hard work and experience to the job every day. From challenging tree work and long days on site to supporting the rest of the crew, they’re a real credit to Teign Trees.

Having experienced, dependable people within our teams is a huge part of what keeps us moving forward, and milestones like this are well worth celebrating.

A massive thank you to Lee, Ben and Mike for everything you’ve contributed over the last five years – here’s to many more! 👏🌳

🌳 Forest of Dean Tree Work

Recent tree works for Forestry England in the Forest of Dean, with our team using a MEWP to safely access and carry out works to roadside trees.

We regularly work in the Forest Of Dean, helping to manage trees and maintain safe routes.
🌿 Managing tree condition
🌳 Removing hazardous or declining branches
🚧 Keeping roads and public areas safe
🦉 Carrying out works with care for the surrounding environment

A beautiful part of the country to be working in, and another day helping to keep the Forest of Dean safe, healthy and well maintained.

From Beech Tree to Bench 🌳 ➡️ 🪵

A big dismantle for the team at Rowcroft last week.

This mature Beech was carefully dismantled and felled, with parts of the tree repurposed and put to good use on site.

The main stem was retained and transformed into a bespoke bench seat, with additional timber kept to be repurposed as bollards.

The woodchip has also stayed on site for reuse, with the remaining timber removed by our team.

A nice way to give the tree a second life after removal. 🌳
