FULL TIME JUNIOR ENGINEER

A&L McCrae are looking for an ambitious Junior / Graduate Civil Engineer to join our growing civil engineering and contracting team in Argyll.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their engineering career who wants to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of civil engineering projects, while developing towards a future role in construction and project management.

The Role-

Working alongside our experienced engineering and management team, you will be involved in the delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects, predominantly throughout Argyll and the surrounding areas.
• Site setting out and surveying
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records
• Quality assurance and as-built information
• Assisting with planning and coordination of site works
• Working with site management, subcontractors, clients and consultants
• Monitoring progress against programme
• Supporting the commercial and technical delivery of projects
• Developing an understanding of project costs, resources and construction management.

Projects-
Our workload covers a broad range of civil engineering and large scale infrastructure works, providing exposure to different sectors and construction methods. Projects include transmission and distribution infrastructure works, roads and earthworks, drainage, utilities, concrete works, structures and general civil engineering projects.

The majority of our projects are based locally within the Argyll area.

Who We're Looking For-

• A degree, HNC/HND or similar qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• An interest in practical, site-based civil engineering
• An understanding of setting out and surveying, although further training can be provided
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn
• A full UK driving licence

Applications are welcomed from both recent graduates and junior engineers with some site experience.

This is a full-time, permanent position operating our 8 wheel tippers with work covering all of our quarry operations.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Materials Testing Technician & BSI Quality Manager to join our growing ready-mix concrete and aggregates business.

This is a key role within the company, responsible for maintaining the highest standards of product quality, compliance, and technical performance across our quarrying, aggregates, and ready-mix operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, batching plants, quarry management, and external auditors to ensure all products consistently meet industry standards and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out sampling and testing of:
* Ready-mix concrete
* Aggregates
* Sand
* Perform on-site and laboratory testing in line with:
* BSI standards
* EN standards
* Quality management procedures
* Manage and maintain the company’s:
* BSI Quality Management Systems
* Factory Production Control (FPC)
* Accreditation documentation
* Prepare for and lead external BSI audits
* Maintain calibration records and testing equipment
* Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions
* Produce technical reports and compliance documentation
* Work alongside plant managers and operational staff to improve product consistency and efficiency
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental procedures
* Assist with mix design monitoring and materials performance analysis

Requirements

* Experience within:
