We're fortunate for some dry weather this weekend to clear up some grass in these conditions .

Very greatful to our dedicated team who relentlessly pull out all the stops to make sure the job is done .

Curious as to how others have found maize chop quality this season .....

It appears to be between certain varieties of crops , at times you could go a couple of weeks faultless and then randomly hit a patch or variety where the maize sample just wouldnt chop as normal . Obviously dry matters make a big difference to the overall job but this was more crop based than dry matter based .

We compared 4 different machines chopping at 8mm

Krone BigX700 series - 40 blade
Krone BigX600 series - 20 blade
Claas Jaguar 900 series - 36 blade
Claas Jaguar 800 series - 24 blade

The 20 and 24 blade were obviously at a disadvantage in these circumstances but you couldnt tell the difference between the other machine samples Krone and Claas with the multi blade cylinders .

We laterly made some modifications to our Krone machines which did make a difference in the challenging crops .

Prehaps we're fussy but here are some pictures of what were working with ...

Last of the Wholecrop yesterday ✅️

Not sure if weve ever had a week where weve been at Grass silage , whole crop , crimp combining and dry combining in the same week 👀 . Well done to everyone who helps to keep the wheels turning .
