Upgraded the cctv on my property while I'm having a few days off. Previous owner stripped the old system out when he moved out, only leaving 1 x 720p bullet camera.

I went for a 4k System with dome cameras and built in lighting, colour night vision and sound.

I will be taking a week or so off, to teach him all the regulations of BS7671 and codes of practice 😉

I aim to resume all work week commencing 19th October.

Decided to bring a few Jobs forward to this morning, to take the load off next week.

3 properties around bolehall, hurley and polesworth. only smaller jobs but needed doing.

Replace a melted socket at one property, replace a missing pendant at another, then replace a shower pullcord and disconnect/remove an intruder alarm at the last property. Further work needed here as they had a 10.8kw shower on a 6mm cable....New lower kw shower will be fitted.

This week at MTS.

Quiet week this week, lots of personal family things happening outside of work which is affecting my day to day working. Hopefully within the next two weeks i'll be back to full weeks again.

In the meantime, i managed to squeeze in a few jobs, little jobs to keep me ticking over.

Apart from the usual jobs, I got called to one property to recitify another electricians work. He had charged the customer silly amounts of money for work they didn't need, then left them with multiple faults in the property and was told to leave. I managed to find the two faults in 20 minutes and get the customer back up and running.

I would love to post the pictures of his work, but at the moment I feel like it's unfair to do that.

This week at MTS.

Another short week due to family commitments.

A few Jobs from atound Tamworth, Birmingham, Lichfield and Atherstone.

▪️multiple lights changed after a full plaster
▪️few customer provided fans fitted to battens
▪️multiple downlights upgraded in 2 properties
▪️faulty timer fan replaced
▪️socket added for router (trunking being boxed in)
▪️outside lights changed
▪️striplights in garage upgraded to LED

Also had to disconnect an SWA for an outbuilding due to planning permission breach by a customer

Quick Emergency Callout from Tonight.

A customer called me, explaining that a National Grid were on site but they'd had a board fire.

I attended to find an MK Board with melted neutral on RCD and melted mcb. Luckily I had a matching RCD on the van.

Replaced it but will have to return to replace the mcb as didn't have one on stock.

Also advised the customer about the mismatched mcb's

Another 3 day week due to private family commitments, but a very busy 3 days!

▪️connect new cooker up for a customer
▪️swap mechanical timer for digital to control lights
▪️swap ceiling fan for pendant ready for house move
▪️fault find outdoor socket
▪️add a socket in garage under consumer unit
▪️replace multiple lights fittings in properties
▪️fit new element in integrated microwave grill
▪️swap out melted ceiling fan
▪️move garage circuit to high integrity side of board
▪️replace split battery for intruder alarm
▪️replace blown flood light

Another day, another dodgy light fixed 🤣

Got called this morning to replace a fan in a conservatory for a standard 6 inch pendant as they're decorating. Arrived to find this.

A dated ceiling fan with the blades all melted due to the excessive heat in there. No actual bracket for the ball to sit in on the arm, then held up with 3 lengths of 20mm conduit, 2 housing some m6 coach bolts bolted into just the plastic cover, held on by 2 inch 8 screws and the other conduit concealing the twin and earth cable.

Last minute emergency callout yesterday for a tripping rcd.

The customer had opened up the cover and seen the neutral busbar "glowing orange" so turned it off.

As it was late in the afternoon, I couldn't do a board change there and then, so I booked in an emergency board change which I started this morning.

I went for a Fusebox Inc 11 way board with SPD then added the Live Electrical UK fire suppression mcb to put the customers mind at ease.

To my customers I had to cancel today and reschedule - Thank You. I couldn't leave this customer with no power.
