Someone had a right go at this one first and dismembered it with all sorts of tools.

I’d been initially contacted about it when it wasn’t so bad and then this happened to it because they didn’t want to wait as I was busy and had already left the area with a list of jobs in various locations to get round. All sorted now though. Please bare in mind failed attempts that result in serious damage can add more cost and delays because if a job takes longer to put right I have to plan time carefully as they’re not always straight in-out jobs.

Sometimes simple looking jobs can be the toughest challenges 😆

One of today’s jobs, a Ford fiesta with minor damage to the nut turned out to be the most heavily corroded Ford nut I’ve ever seen on one of these. Removing it was like a gym workout and once the locking wheel nut was out, the wheel was absolutely bonded on the hub with that horrible steel-alloy corrosion.

I’m not afraid to admit I had to stop for a minute for some breaths of air to get my strength back halfway through taking this out 😅

2018 VW Amarok earlier today, I knew these have the ability to use a locking wheel bolt on the spare wheel but this is the first time I’ve actually come across one. All the other 4 needed to come off too due to a lost locking wheel nut key and flat tyre.

Although I don’t fit tyres I always offer to throw the spare wheel on if you have one as a matter of courtesy 🙂

Steady first day back and a day of nice straightforward jobs. Two of which consecutive Ford Transit Custom locking wheel nut removal jobs.

Majority of today’s customers been other self employed one man band tradesmen, who are always great to deal with because they are more understanding of logistics than your average person which helped today no end 😅

In this kind of job, the geographic proximity of the work can potentially be the biggest challenge you’re up against which requires clever planning 🤓

Attention ⚠️ to anyone making enquiries,actual calls from unsaved callers through WhatsApp are silenced 🔕 please call directly instead. Just about every day there’s at least one notification that says someone tried calling.

Just some of the reasons this setting is enabled is to prevent international spam callers ringing up out of hours. And also if I’m already on the phone it rings over the top of an active phone call. I’m sure most people will understand.

BMW locking wheel bolt removal job for one of many regular & loyal trade customers. OSR locker was mildly damaged but had no major effect on difficultly.

BMW wheel bolt problems are up there as one of the most frequent jobs. Not just for me, I’m confident anyone else who does this job will agree with this statement. I don’t think many days go by without seeing at least one. A busy day can involve 3-5 of them, sometimes consecutively.

On this occasion it was all the standard nuts causing a problem, with 17 years of weather and mileage combined, the wheel nuts ended up in a rather tumescent state, so a 22mm socket wouldn’t fit over them. If you ever see these nuts with the tell tale sign someone has needed to drive them back out the socket showing the dent like in pic 2. The best thing to do is replace them all

Was nothing wrong with the locking wheel nuts at this moment in time, but did away with them to prevent any future problems. Tyre fitters are happy too because their job will be nice and easy.
