Even in the hot weather your boiler is still working hard providing hot water. However this gas boiler would fail to light randomly. The fault was traced to a fractured lead to the electrodes. The Boiler was then fully serviced and put back into operation so the customer can once again have hot water! As the saying goes "A stitch time save nine". When doing a routine service on this Grant "Boiler House" oil boiler it was found that the capacitor has started to leak electrolyte oil. If left it would have caused the boiler to fail! So even if your boiler appears to be working normally, it is definitely worth have a routine service! A Customer had a lot of water damage/mould in their airing cupboard. We traced the source of the water to a leaking cold water storage tank. The customer had a failed ancient motorised valve that had a horizontal port configuration and was wired up via electrical relays. We replumbed in a modern mid position zone valve, including an auto air bleed. Then installed a new wiring centre and changed the configuration of the wiring from the timer as the old valve used the heating off circuits, where as the new valve used the hot water off circuits!
