Another football pitch transformation completed by Kestrel Contracts at Frogmore Leisure Centre.

We stripped away the old, tired surface and replaced it with a new, state-of-the-art artificial one, creating a high-quality, durable playing environment ready for the next game.

A tired pitch out. A fantastic new facility in.

It’s always rewarding to see the transformation from start to finish, and this is a great example of what can be achieved with the right planning, expertise and attention to detail.

Built for performance. Built to last. Built by Kestrel.

Good planning helps projects run smoothly.

Poor planning often creates challenges that could easily have been avoided.

Three common issues we see are:
1. Defining the solution before defining the problem
2. Leaving planning discussions too late
3. Focusing solely on upfront project costs

Every facility is different, and every project has unique requirements.

Taking time to understand objectives, constraints and long-term aspirations at the outset can help create better outcomes for everyone involved.

Successful projects don't start with construction, they start with good planning.

What lesson have you learned from a previous project that others could benefit from?

Work is underway on Phase 3 at Wellington Gate, near Grove, Oxfordshire.

This latest phase of the project will deliver five additional football pitches of varying sizes, helping to expand the sporting facilities available to the growing local community.

The footage shows the early stages of site preparation, creating the platform from which our works can begin.

Every great pitch starts with careful preparation, and we're looking forward to getting started on the next phase of this project.

A common question is:

"When should we start planning?"

The answer is usually sooner than expected. Because, many projects require consideration of:
• Funding approval
• Budget allocation
• Design and specification development
• Procurement processes
• Delivery scheduling

Starting early provides more flexibility and often results in better decision-making.

For organisations looking to deliver projects during holiday periods or seasonal shutdowns, planning several months in advance can make a significant difference.

The earlier conversations begin, the more options are typically available.

How far ahead do you usually plan facility improvements?

When reviewing project proposals, we can all be guilty of focusing on the lowest initial cost. But what about the long term value, does it tell a different story?

Factors such as:
Maintenance requirements
Product lifespan
Surface performance
User experience
Future repair costs

can significantly impact the total cost of ownership over the life of a facility.

The most effective solution is not always the cheapest on day one. It is often the option that delivers the greatest value over many years of use. So, Investing in quality planning and construction can help reduce costs and disruption further down the line.

When evaluating a project, do you focus more on upfront cost or long-term value?

Another year, another visit to the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Following a busy summer of events, our team have been back carrying out the annual renovation works to help refresh the surfaces and prepare them for the months ahead.

The renovation work is complete, now it's over to the grass.

The most successful sports facility projects begin long before work starts on site. The decisions made during the planning stage provide the direction, clarity and confidence needed to achieve a successful outcome.

By starting the conversation early, you'll have time to:

1. Define project objectives
2. Explore available options
3. Establish realistic budgets
4. Consider funding opportunities
5. Develop a delivery programme

After all, successful projects rarely happen by accident.

If you're considering improving your facility next year, now may be the ideal time to start shaping those discussions.

What's the first thing you look at when planning a new project?

Congratulations to Tadley Calleva FC on their FA Cup victory on Saturday.

A goal down at half-time and then coming back to win 3-1 by full-time? Brilliant!

While we'd like to think we helped, even just a little bit, by getting the pitch ready, but we all know the real credit belongs to the players and management team.

Wishing everyone at the club all the very best in the next round.
