Already this week I’ve been called out to several uPVC doors which have become difficult to open, close or lock, especially if the sun has been shining directly on them. This is due to the plastic swelling as the temperature rises.

If this happens to your uPVC door during the hot weather, then it may just need adjusting and realigning. The best thing to do is get it looked at as soon as possible, before it starts to disrupt the mechanism. DON’T try and force the door to lock if it doesn’t seem to be working correctly when you lift up the handle.

It’s a much bigger and more expensive job to replace a mechanism than it is to get your door adjusted. So if you can see or feel any difference in your uPVC door, give me a call on 07940 230177, or message me on my page.

Since the turn of the year, almost half of my work has been realigning and adjusting uPVC doors. Colder temperatures can play havoc with the mechanism, leading to problems when opening, closing and locking.

It’s so important to get this looked at before it gets too bad, as it’s a much bigger (and more expensive) job to replace a mechanism than it is to do the necessary maintenance and adjustments to the door.

Since the drop in temperature at the turn of the year, almost all of my work has been dealing with uPVC doors which have seized up. Freezing conditions can play havoc with the mechanism, leading to problems when opening, closing and locking.

DO NOT try and force your handle up if it doesn’t go up like normal. This could damage the mechanism and can become a much bigger (and more expensive) job than making the necessary realignments and adjustments to the door.
