Called out to inspect a kitchen rewire today after the customer started having concerns about the work being carried out by the kitchen fitter’s electrician.
Several additional sockets had been spurred off a 32A cooker supply, run through loose connector blocks and split into 1.5mm² & 2.5mm² cables, all hidden behind units.
To make it worse, the same 32A supply was also being used to feed a 13A oven, which is completely unsafe.
None of this complies with current wiring regulations and poses a serious safety risk.
All of the wiring is going to have to be removed and replaced properly with a new dedicated kitchen ring circuit, correctly protected, routed and fully tested.
If you’re having a new kitchen installed, always make sure the electrical work is carried out by a qualified, registered electrician, it saves a lot of trouble later 👍
