WORKING WITH THE GARDEN — NOT AGAINST IT 🌳

This project is a great example of what the iGarden iFrame system was designed to do.

A restricted, split-level garden with established trees, significant roots and an awkward existing layout — but those trees were part of the garden and needed to stay.

Rather than digging out the area, disturbing the root systems or trying to force a conventional patio construction into the space, we designed the steel iFrame around the trees and existing ground conditions.

The result:

🌳 Established trees retained and incorporated into the finished patio
🌱 Minimal disturbance to the existing ground and root zones
🔩 The steel iFrame engineered around obstacles rather than removing them
↕️ A split-level design that makes the different garden levels work
🔧 Porcelain remains liftable, allowing future access beneath the patio where required
🏡 An awkward, difficult-to-use garden transformed into a clean, practical outdoor living space

The second image really tells the story.

Underneath that porcelain is a precision-engineered steel structure built around the existing garden. Above it, you'd barely know the complexity was there.

Don't fight the garden. Design around it.

A couple of years ago, our iFrame system helped create this beautiful outdoor entertainment room — a completely separate space away from the main house.
From the very beginning, the structure was designed with the future in mind, including the option to enclose it at a later date.
Fast-forward a couple of years and our customers came back to us to do exactly that — adding glass sliding doors and taking the space to another level.
That’s the beauty of designing with flexibility built in. What started as an incredible open entertainment space can evolve as the family’s needs change.
They already use this room throughout the year, including the winter months. It’s become their go-to place whenever family and friends are around — somewhere to relax, entertain and enjoy the garden whatever the weather.
And with the new sliding glass doors, it’s just become even more usable all year round.
Although judging by some of their get-togethers, not everyone manages the walk back to the main house in a perfectly straight line! 😂🥂

Five years on... and it still looks as stunning as the day it was installed. 🙌

Apart from the natural ageing of the glulam pergola (exactly as expected), everything is performing beautifully.

But the best part wasn't how it looked... it was what the homeowner said:

"We use it all the time. It's like having another room. We use it far more than we ever used the garden before we had an iGarden."

That's what great outdoor design is all about. Creating spaces that don't just look incredible—they completely change the way you live.

5 years later… and still looking as good as the day we installed it 👌
We recently returned to one of our iGarden projects to install a small pergola, and it’s always rewarding seeing a space years later.
This iGarden was installed 5 years ago, and honestly, it still looks as good as new. That’s exactly what iGarden is all about — creating outdoor spaces that not only look great on day one, but continue to perform and look exceptional for years to come.
