Work is progressing apace on the RAAC roof replacement project for QEH School 🏗️

Construction Manager Richie talks us through the works, which have included the removal of the roof, installation of a new mezzanine floor to provide additional space at the school, and rebuilding the new roof over the top, which features a new dormer.

Internally, new staircases have been built and ancillary areas refurbished.

When Jade Holland Cooper asked us to construct a space that felt "connected, collaborative, and distinctly reflective of the Holland Cooper brand", we knew this would be a special project.

The result: a 70,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art world headquarters for an iconic British company.

This landmark build involved the complete transformation an old industrial shed into corporate offices, design showrooms, a full photographic studio and an editing suite.

Needless to say, we were delighted with Jade's feedback. In her own words:

"This building reflects how far we’ve come as a brand, while staying true to the ambition and belief we started with."

Take a look at Porsche Bristol, Cribbs Causeway.

For this prestigious brand, crisp lines and attention to detail were key and we had to carefully manage the build sequences to get the quality finish.

The building is the first Porsche centre in the country to have red LED strips on the corner of the building – which took meticulous collaboration between multiple suppliers.

This is one of eight projects we’ve completed for Dick Lovett, and the fourth car dealership Project Manager Chris Jones has worked on – and for Porsche loving Chris, it was a joy to be part of.

“I’ve grown up loving cars, Porsches especially – I used to have Porsche posters on my wall as a little boy!” he said.

The judges were highly impressed by Beard's exceptional organisational maturity, combining consistently high quality project delivery with a deeply embedded culture of safety, staff development, community investment and long term customer relationships.

Swindon Director and Company Safety Director Jamie Harwood, attended last night's ceremony, alongside colleagues from across the region. He said:

Barney Durham, studying Quantity Surveying at Nottingham Trent University, saw signs of our work in Oxford:

"I was attracted to Beard because I would often see your branding around historical buildings, and decided I would love to work on old heritage buildings such as the Oxford Colleges."

Toby Salvidge, studying Construction Project Management at the University of the West of England, heard good things about Beard's reputation through his University Course leader. He adds:

Izzy Scanlan, rejoining Beard in a permanent role after completing a placement year with us, spoke about this positive experience:

Congratulations to the Beard peloton who completed an epic 285km cycle between each of our offices for Youth Challenge Oxfordshire 👏

Colleagues also joined in with the challenge on static bikes in our offices, with others making up part of the road support crew 🚴

YCO supports young people in addressing challenges including mental health, social isolation, a lack of confidence and aspiration through learning, residentials, skills-based sessions and social activities.

"It's definitely helped me improve as a person," said one young participant.

The countdown is officially on...

Just one week to go until the Beard Cyclathon at Iffley Road Sports Centre in Oxford! 🚴

We’re gearing up for a day of fundraising (and just plain fun), as teams take turns on a static bike to clock up as much distance as possible for a good cause.

The response this year has been fantastic, with dozens of teams and hundreds of riders expected from across Oxford’s construction and property community.

Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or an enthusiastic first-timer, you can ride for as long or as little as you like. Just bring your trainers, your team colours and a little competitive spirit!

Due to popular demand, we have released a further two bike entry spaces - available on a first come, first served basis.

A space brought back to life for the life-savers! 💚

Beard recently transformed an overgrown garden into a peaceful retreat for Emergency Department staff at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust.

While delivering other construction projects across the hospital site, we spotted this opportunity to give something back.

Our team and subcontactors cleared the old garden, adding fencing, paving, decking, furniture and planting. The result: a peaceful space where staff can step away for a well-earned break.

We worked closely with RUHX, the official charity of the RUH, and the Trust to deliver this small-but-mighty project.

A big thank you to them, and to everyone else who helped make this new space blossom! 🌸

Beard's involvement will see students from under-represented backgrounds across Swindon and Wiltshire grow in confidence and take big steps towards a bright future.
