Thinking of to get through the drought? Great! But not every type of used water is suitable for every job...

Here's some easy dos and don’ts from :

💧 DO collect the clean water that runs while you’re waiting for a shower or tap to warm up. Use it for plants, cleaning or flushing the loo.

🌱 DO use lightly soapy bath, shower or washing-up water on established ornamental plants if needed.

🚽 DO use collected water to flush your toilet by pouring it directly into the bowl.

🥗 DON'T use grey water to wash salads, or other food that will be eaten raw.

🧴 DON'T put water containing bleach, disinfectant, dishwasher salt or harsh cleaning products in your garden

🪣 DON'T leave grey water sitting around. Use it within 24 hours to reduce bacterial growth.

🦟 DON'T leave uncovered containers of standing water outside, as these can provide a breeding place for mosquitoes.

A little common sense can help every drop go further... without creating another problem in the process.

Yes, it might seem a bit mad to be thinking about your boiler in the middle of a drought…

But summer is actually a great time to book a boiler service! Why? Well, a well-maintained boiler and clean heating system can heat your water more efficiently, for less wasted energy, a lower risk of breakdowns and one job ticked off early. Every little bit helps!

A leaking toilet can waste up to 400 litres of water a day (!!!), and dripping taps and inefficient fittings also add up over time. With water supplies under pressure, now is a good time to check for those small plumbing problems that are easy to overlook.

Air conditioning isn't just for heatwaves like this!

One of our customers recently told us that having air conditioning installed upstairs and across the ground floor was the “best decision” they made, especially for getting a decent night’s sleep in this heat.

Their app showed it cost £1.19 to run the bedroom system for 24 hours, and they also use it in winter to help heat the house quickly.

Running costs will vary depending on your home, usage and energy tariff, but modern home AC systems can be more cost-efficient than many people realise.

They can help keep you cool in summer, support heating in winter, and if you have solar panels, you may be able to use some of your daytime generation to help power the system! 🌞
