During pictures of a staircase renovation I have been working on.

The landing has been extended so it’s fully supported by the wall below. Extended joist bolted through existing and hangers added where needed. New floor boards added.
Old winders removed and the “structural” (not) Tongue and groove cut out below to allow for a new string to be added.
Trimmer added to support new stairs and existing ceiling joists. New strings fitted both sides following the pitch line and supported by the wall below.
New treads joined and fitted with new risers to match the existing sizes. New string on the landing side were made using 18 mm plywood and all joints staggered, glued and screwed to provide the best lamination and strength.
(Fully tested by me jumping up and down on it lots🤣)!
The wall was re built underneath the treads between the strings by the customer after I left for the day so on my return I could fit the treads and risers.
The new string on the wall side was dominoed to the existing string and glued and screwed to the wall as well as extra fixings added to the existing string just to make sure it won’t move.

Before pictures of staircase renovation I have been working on for a new customer.
This staircase used to be a winder but the supporting newel post had been removed and a half step introduced in an attempt to make straight flight of stairs.
The landing was cantilevered of an existing wall with a steel hinge added for support at some point as it was dropping.
The existing string was supporting joists in the kitchen ceiling with no trimmer behind it.
The step 2nd from top was supported by the wall below which helped but it did poke out into the kitchen.
Big thanks to the customer for lifting floor boards to give me the best view to investigate and come up with a method to sort out other stairs, very helpful and much appreciated.

New Staircase fitted a while ago now in a renovation project I have been working on.
I finally fitted the newel caps this week but forgot to take a pic🤣

Pictures show before and after!
The old layout meant you had to go downstairs to reach either side of the house when needed but now with all that taken out a new Oak staircase fitted and landing area formed it has made the house flow a lot better and has essentially joined the house together!

I have to say both myself and the Clients weren’t 100% sure it would work because it’s so hard to map out position and get accurate measurements with the existing stairs in place, as it wasn’t a like for like replacement.
Massive thanks to the clients for their help with removing the old and lifting in the new 💪 their trust in me to deliver their vision and their patience during the works as they were still living in the property while this was being done!
I had full confidence in my make shift landing so the bedrooms and bathrooms could be accessed and used!
This has been wrapped up for what’s seems like an age due to it being oiled by the clients and plastering still needing to be completed. Forgot how good it looked.
