We’re pleased to welcome Chloe Giles as Head of People & Culture at Roberts and Prowse.

This is an important appointment as our business grows. We want colleagues across our offices, workshops and sites to feel connected, listened to and part of the same team.

Chloe will work with our people and managers to strengthen communication, bolster company values, address concerns and resolve conflicts fairly. She will also help develop training, bring teams together and shape a positive culture that reflects our values in everyday working life.

We’re delighted to have donated £𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗿𝘆𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸, supporting the fantastic work they undertake for families and residents within the local community.

The donation was made possible through environmental initiatives associated with our works, including 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲-𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀. As a trusted supply-chain partner to 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗶-𝗧𝗲𝗰, we recognise that construction projects can have an impact beyond the site boundary. Increased traffic, pressure on local amenities and additional noise can all affect the communities in which we work.

For us, 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆.
With this in mind, we looked at how the funds raised could make a meaningful difference locally and discovered the fantastic work being undertaken by 𝗗𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗿𝘆𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸.

Duffryn Community Link provides an extensive range of support to local people, including its 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸, 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘀. Its work helps residents access practical assistance while building confidence, skills and stronger connections within the community.

We were therefore very pleased to be able to support an organisation doing such valuable work in the community surrounding our project.

Keeping Roberts & Prowse moving

A great deal of work happens behind the scenes at Roberts & Prowse. Our back office team keeps the business organised and supports the people delivering work on site every day. Fleet management is a big part of that.

With over 100 vehicles, ranging from managers cars and engineers’ vans to shared flatbeds and an HGV with a HIAB, there is a lot to coordinate. Servicing and MOTs need planning, vehicle requirements need tracking, and day-to-day issues need resolving promptly.

Our Fleet Manager keeps all of this moving. It is a demanding role that often goes unseen, but it helps our teams get to site, move equipment and deliver for our clients.

Thank you to our Fleet Manager, and to everyone in the back office whose work makes each working day possible.

Project completion - A complete building repipe

We recently worked on a local authority building with accommodation blocks, communal kitchens, a bar, shower and ablution areas, and a commercial kitchen.

The existing boiler, booster set and calorifier were reaching the point where a more efficient upgrade was needed. The pipework had also developed pinhole leaks, while changes in how the building was used had raised concerns in its Legionella risk assessment.

The client chose to start afresh with a complete building repipe. We installed the new copper pipework using press-fit fittings, allowing the work to be carried out without hot works.

Projects like this call for careful planning across every part of a building, from the plant room through to the spaces people use each day.

Electrical Contracts Manager / Estimator – Swindon

We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager / Estimator to join our growing team in Swindon.

The role will cover a mix of estimating, tendering and contract management, taking electrical projects from initial enquiry through to completion. You’ll work closely with clients, suppliers, site teams and our existing estimating team to make sure projects are priced properly and delivered successfully.

We’re looking for someone who knows the electrical industry, can work on their own initiative and is comfortable dealing with both the commercial and practical side of projects.

We’re proud to be in such a strong position with our summer school projects, with just one week to go until completion.

A huge amount of hard work, dedication, overtime and, during the recent heatwaves, plenty of sweat has gone into getting both projects to where they are today.

Our first project has included a full central heating system and plant room, 30 fire door replacements, a new fire alarm installation and emergency lighting replacement all delivered within the slightly shorter five week summer holiday period.

The project is well on track, with snagging already underway.

Our second project has involved 32 fire door replacements, fire alarm replacement and emergency lighting replacement. This project is also progressing well, with the team now concentrating on the final clean-up, snagging and, in some cases, working out exactly how the previous classroom layouts once looked!

A massive well done to our hardworking teams. Their commitment, flexibility and willingness to put in the extra hours, particularly through the numerous heatwaves.

One week to go. Great progress, great teamwork and a great effort all round.
