We’re proud to be in such a strong position with our summer school projects, with just one week to go until completion.

A huge amount of hard work, dedication, overtime and, during the recent heatwaves, plenty of sweat has gone into getting both projects to where they are today.

Our first project has included a full central heating system and plant room, 30 fire door replacements, a new fire alarm installation and emergency lighting replacement all delivered within the slightly shorter five week summer holiday period.

The project is well on track, with snagging already underway.

Our second project has involved 32 fire door replacements, fire alarm replacement and emergency lighting replacement. This project is also progressing well, with the team now concentrating on the final clean-up, snagging and, in some cases, working out exactly how the previous classroom layouts once looked!

A massive well done to our hardworking teams. Their commitment, flexibility and willingness to put in the extra hours, particularly through the numerous heatwaves.

One week to go. Great progress, great teamwork and a great effort all round.

Roberts and Prowse are thrilled to announce we have been successfully awarded a crucial fire safety project at Wroughton Junior School in Swindon.

This project involved several key upgrades: emergency lighting improvements, a new fire alarm installation and the replacement of fire doors throughout the building.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our valued client Grove Learning Trust for entrusting us with this project and to Kenneth and Edwards Limited, acting as contract administrator and the clients agent.

We’re delighted to announce that Roberts & Prowse has secured not one, but two projects at Peatmoor Junior School, Swindon.

The first project involves a complete heating system replacement, including:

• Full R&D surveys prior to work commencing
• Boiler plant strip (currently being stripped)
• Full plant replacement
• New heating pipework throughout
• New heat emitters
• A modern, efficient heating solution for the school

Alongside this, we’ve also been awarded a second project to enhance the school’s safety and compliance, including:

• Emergency lighting design and upgrade
• A new fire alarm installation
• Replacement and upgrade of 30 fire doors throughout the building

Project Overview

Roberts & Prowse designed, fabricated and installed a new high-level gas main distribution system, along with a supporting steelwork structure, to serve additional annealing furnaces within The Royal Mint’s manufacturing facility. Working closely with The Royal Mint’s engineering team from the outset, they developed and implemented a robust engineering solution to route approximately 100 metres of supported new gas main pipework around the perimeter of the main furnace building. This ensured a safe and reliable gas supply to critical production equipment.

Scope of Works

- Fabrication and installation of a new high-level structural steel gas main pipework supporting bridge system around the building’s perimeter.
- Manufacture and installation of approximately 100 metres of new gas main pipework.
- Fabrication of a new 8-inch nominal bore (8” NB) gas manifold and associated distribution pipework.
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) of structural steel and pipework welds to meet client quality requirements.
- Supply of comprehensive project quality documentation, including full material traceability and UKCA certification records for structural steel components.

Key Challenges & Solutions

Coordinating installation activities within a live industrial production environment presented a significant challenge. Roberts & Prowse overcame this by carefully planning and managing the project, ensuring that all activities were executed efficiently and safely

Delivery & Outcome

The project successfully delivered a new gas distribution system that supported additional furnace capacity. Furthermore, stringent weld testing, inspection and quality compliance requirements were achieved. The project also delivered full project traceability and certification documentation, ensuring that all structural steel components met UKCA certification standards. Ultimately, the solution provided a robust long-term infrastructure that supported future manufacturing operations.

Roberts & Prowse delivered the complete fabrication of a bespoke modular plantroom solution, incorporating both structural steelwork and process pipework installations. The project included the manufacture, assembly, testing and finishing of the plantroom modules prior to transportation and installation on site.

Scope of Works

- Fabricate six individual modular plantroom sections that will be bolted together on-site to create a single large installation.
- Manufacture and install process pipework systems and related equipment.
- Fabricate structural steel to support the modular plantroom construction.
- Prepare and paint the finished modules before delivery.
- Coordinate and deliver oversized loads using specialist haulage contractors and es**rt vehicles.
- Perform non-destructive testing on critical welds and hydraulic pressure testing on installed pipework systems.
- Produce comprehensive project quality documentation including full material traceability and UKCA certification records for structural steel components.

This new Witney office complements our existing locations in Swindon, Aylesbury and Wales, and has been strategically established to support and strengthen the delivery of facilities management services across Carterton, Witney and the wider Oxfordshire area.
