1. Check for Trading Standards Approval

**** ROGUE TRADER ALERT ****

We've been alerted today by Buy With Confidence Trading Standards Approved member Taylor Roofing Contractors LTD , that residents in the Swindon area have received visits from cold callers claiming to be them. Upon knocking at the door, the cold callers have been creating false problems that "need fixing".

Please note that Taylor Roofing Contractors Ltd DO NOT cold call and should not be confused with these rogue traders.

Our advice is never to engage with cold callers. Rogue traders can trick people into paying very high prices for unnecessary or shoddy work. To avoid becoming a victim of rogue traders follow these simple steps:
• Never agree to have work done by somebody who is just passing or take their word that it needs to be done at all;
• Never pay for work before it is completed;
• Do not accept any offer from them to drive you to the bank to withdraw money;
• Check the identification of all persons and check with their employers, or the body they represent. A genuine caller will be happy to wait for you to complete these checks;
• If you need work done, obtain recommendations from friends or family, or visit www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk for traders vetted by Trading Standards.
